shelf life of nic is at most 18 months, right?
Mine comes packaged sealed in a bottle, sealed in a plastic bag with a gas in it, sealed one more time. I throw all that in the freezer and believe (with no proof) that it will last virtually forever with minimal potency loss. I have heard of people who have stored it for 2 years without significant loss. I believe the degrading factors are light and oxygen.

I think the best bet is to keep it in glass bottles with minimum air on top, in a freezer at the coldest temperature you can and it might do a decade with the caveat that some of the nic will be gone. Can't give you reference links, this is just what I remember from the reading I've done.

So if you use it after 18 months, it won't hurt you, right? It just might not be as potent. But nicotine that has lost a bit of potency would be better than not being able to get any at all, wouldn't it? If I thought the hammer was coming down and the gov was going to make it impossible to get fresh, I wouldn't mind having a stash of slightly weakened nic on hand. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

One more question...when ordering, are you supposed to order a stronger solution than the final product will be rated at? If I wanted to make a 24mg liquid, would I have to order 24mg solution or something stronger?

The addition of your flavoring will dilute your unflavored nic juice. If you NEED a final mix to be 24 mg and cant handle a bit lower you do need to order higher.

Most people purchase much higher simply because it does end of being less expense. The other reason is that they wish to use a pg/vg mix that they cant get by ordering their base at the mg level they desire

Correct Jude. Also, if you want to cover all your bases, PG lasts longer than VG so get your nic in PG.
