So just saw this article. Apparently an american man has died from lung disease due from vaping itself. I'm a bit uncertain about this because they said this:

Authorities haven’t identified the man who died but he is known to have lived in the state of Illinois and was between the ages of 17 and 38 at the time of his death

I mean seems they don't even know the guy.

Here is the article:
Man dies from vaping in ‘world first’

What do yall think of this article?

21 Cases of Lung Disease Linked to Vaping ........ Bought on Street

"...a spokesman for the Department of Public Health wrote that the agency is "working with local public health departments, other state departments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to gather more information on patients, and on products and substances used."

The Department is urging people to avoid vaping ........ products sold by unlicensed vendors."

In a nutshell, although still under investigation, it appears the person who died had purchased a vial of a black market substance to get high and vaped it.

So a guy died from consuming street drugs. And the method of consumption is the focus? Somebody's paying these news outlets a lot of money to run this smear campaign.
The lack of quality investigative reporting these days is so poor that the reporters don't realize that street drugs were probably involved.

Even the doctors treating these individuals have tunnel vision and claiming that vaping is the cause, not considering that other stuff can be vaped than legitimate e-liquid.

It has always been thus.

"The letter writer questioned the doctor: was he sure the tumor was caused by cigarette smoking? The doctor said he wasn't sure about that, but there were guidelines issued by the American Cancer Society, and that when a person dies of certain conditions and has smoked, the doctor is instructed to list the "due to" as "smoking". —In Defence of Smokers, by Lauren A. Colby

And we all know vaping is tobacco.

Good luck. :)

There are good arguments this isn’t a first.

1. I doubt this is the first time someone has put something really stupid into juice that shouldn’t have been there.

2. There’s two deaths from battery explosions I know of. Both were batteries that shouldn’t have been there as well of course.

"It should be noted that issues with black market vape products have already sent teens to the hospital...In January, three teens in two Indiana schools were hospitalized after smoking “... vape pens that were laced with an unknown substance, possibly a narcotic.” Also in January, six high school students in New Mexico were hospitalized “after vaping ......... wax.”

In fact, the U.S. Army issued a warning in 2018 on the dangers of vaping synthetic .......... This came after more than 90 military personnel had been hospitalized and two died after vaping illicit substances."

I think the article sucks, basically. This is all the energy I have for it now.

Other than "I hate the media."

I also hate NIXON. This is because it was the FIRST TIME that politics realized REAL journalism could TAKE DOWN a president. They have been buying it and corrupting it ever SINCE.

This thread caused me to take extra puffs from my vape stick.

Yesterday listening to a radio home improvement show, at the close the host began talking about vaping. He is pro-vape and kept telling listeners to not buy vapes at a gas station, or from a street seller. He railed on about all the stupid media reports of 'might this' and 'might that' and how the story is never completely told how "vaper X" was vaping who knows what from who knows where while trying to get high.

It was music to my ears. He has a very big local audience and probably did more for the smoking cessation crowd in my little slice of planet earth than most would imagine. Bravo.

Not to go off on some tangent but if I started getting into why I strongly dislike the media as well as Nixon it would probably crash the ECF servers. :2cool:

I've wondered about why Juul is a 50mg nic strength. Nic that high could create some serious side effects if someone huffed it in a hurry (as in a bet -"Betcha can't take 10 lung hits in a row and stand up afterwards"). Some people don't know that they have a condition in which extremely high nic could cause heart arrythmia resulting in heart block or a heart attack.

We don't know what was in the ecig in the article, but news wants to make vaping the new target and so does BT, even though they are trying to corner both markets. There's more money in tobacco because BT sells a cigarette product that has to be purchased daily in packs or weekly in cartons. BT's vape products are an attempt to regain market share in nic products lost to vaping (IMO).

For the never smoked, never dipped, never ingested nicotine, yeah sure one drag from a Juul can increase liklihood of young Johnnie or Janes body being altered in a negative way by the super stimulant they've never ingested. So it could mean going from a 0.00009% chance of having a heart attack someday to 0.00010%.

Yet for the former smoker it goes from 99.99% of having a heart attack to somewhere a whole lot less. Just the sheer fact they don't inhale carbon monoxide when vaping alone reduces the chances. Then add no more plaque build up many smokers were plaqued with, the extra blood flow and oxygen in the system increases energy, stamina and the lack of smoke coated taste buds increases appetite for more nutritious foods because suddenly brocolli tastes good.

So yeah I can see where folks should warn never vapers, smokers, dippers etc not to start. It makes sense. Yet vaping is fast becoming a preferred method to get high these days versus smoking their whatever they use. That is what we vapers need to be prepared for. It's no longer just kids sneaking a puff from a Juul in class. The upcoming scurge is about to become our next big obstacle. Illiciet vaping.

They told me my heart attack was due to my love of cheesecake, bloody rare steaks and basically a stick of butter in every good meal. If I ever told them I vaped ( I never did) they probably wouldn't have mentioned that cheesecake.
I went to the doctor a couple weeks ago and mentioned vaping. Dr said they didn’t know enough about it in general and never brought it up again. I think I got decent doc ha ha.

There have been deaths from overdosing on caffeine.

I knew Red Bull and Mt Dew were evil...

And around April, a girl died from an allergic reaction to toothpaste.

On another point, you could die from lack of oxygen if you took 4 or 5 consecutive hits from a helium balloon.

Regardless, very poor journalism. Anything "vape" is a hot story. Let's not have facts get in the way.
