Hello guys, I've got something bugs me all the time which is arcing mark. I am using .22 ohm build on a single 18650 mech mod with Sony VTC4 and Samsung 25r, so I think it is pretty much safe. From some point, I realised that some arcing is happening between the negative side and the button. I am googling it here and there but there is no clear point about this. It would be grateful if somebody can explain why it happens, how to prevent and how to maintain or fix. Thanks

I'm not sure exactly what is causing your problem but I would definitely stop using that mod and batterys until you get to the bottom of this. As it sounds potentially dangerous to me, anyway welcome to the forum.

Thanks :) actually it happened on Noisy Cricket with .6 build and Kennedy Ruby mod .22 build with Samsung 25r and Sony VTC4. Both are safe build in my opinion but slightly bugs me :(

Mine does it on my K100 but, I think its just contact marks from when I press the button up and it makes contact with the negative end of the battery completing the circuit needed to fire the atty causing the tiniest little spark and that is the mark left behind.
it sounds just inevitable so I need to sand or cleanse those part from time to time doesn't it?

A white pencil eraser can usually do that job.
Isopropyl alcohol or baking soda have also been recommended. Good luck.

edit: I think I'd be careful with alcohol around a plastic battery wrap.

I've been a mekkie for years. That has never happened to me. A current that will draw an arc at less than 5VDC sounds pretty fearsome to me. I mean, 5V is such low potential it won't overcome the resistance even in human skin, which is not all that great. Consider the 9V battery, which is higher voltage than your Cricket. You get no tingle on a finger, you have to touch it to your tongue. That would worry me until I figured it out. I'll also say .22 is lower than I would build on a single 25R, albeit technically within specs at 19 amps; on the VTC4, no worries.

I just order DeoxiT haha. Should I just apply it on the positive connection of mod and the button?
Feel free to apply to positive contact, button and both ends of the battery..if your mech has a spring for the negative connection, apply to it as well...helps with voltage drop.
