I had a small problem with a mod slightly arcing on the switch. Small burn on the switch and negative post of the battery. basically the burn was a pin head size. It wiped off clean with a little metal polish. I caught it before the battery got hot. Should I dispose of the battery (VTC4) ?

And yes I cleaned the mod and it is no longer arcing.

I have several VTC5s with pretty extreme pitting due to arcing which I still use with no issues. Arcing is normal when using mechanical contacts, it's physics, and can be somewhat negated/lessened by using Noalox or Deoxit.

As long as the battery charges, holds a charge, has not overcharged (it's a good idea to test them coming off the charger) and has the jacket in good shape you should be fine.
