Are there actually clones on the same level as authentic?

I have tons of clone gear. I'm quite the collector.

I only buy clones marked as clones at clone prices.

I got some legit stuff as well but not anymore, thats the early stuff. And I got some stuff bought local in the early days with "pedigree unknown". Around here its sold as is and its on the buyer. Might be unmarked or marked "100% authentic Tobecco Kayfun V4". If you don't know what that means your prolly gonna get screwed.

But anyhoo yes I have clones that are as good as the real stuff. Just to name one I have Atlantis's that both passed and failed the code test. The clone was from GB and was 10 bucks. Everything about the packaging was EXACTLY the same. Not even the slightest differance. The scratch off code failed but thats just a number. I am not saying its not a knock off or that it is. I have no idea. I'm thinking about it as I been using Atlantis alot lately and the one I'm using could be either one. They have 5ml Aspire tanks and Aspire coils now but I couldn't tell which base was which for all the tea(clone tea??) in China.

Depends on your skills in post-purchase justification.

Many harbor freight tools have a lifetime warranty, so when it breaks you just bring it back and they will swap it for another...

The thing about crappy tools is not how cheap and easy they are to replace. It's the cost, frustration and time spent fixing things ruined by crappy tools. And... well... having to replace them when you're really looking to do some work.

This is the warranty on their Chicago Electric stuff...

Manufacturer Warranty Detail We guarantee this product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship 90 days from the date of purchase. Limitations apply.

I shop there. I usually buy the tools that are supposed to be for single jobs. Hammer Drill, etc... With regular drills or more commonly used tools, I buy better. Better is better. Good tools just feel better. You don't really know until you switch up in the middle of the job.

Certain things they have are really bad. Drill bits, Levels, blades, etc.. They don't last as long as they should. And most of their levels aren't level. Test them out.

Yep, depends on the tool, and what I want it for. If its a one and done type job and a lessor quality tool will do, I'll buy it. If its a tool I expect to get more use out of, a quality one is usually the way to go.

However, I have a very old house made entirely of native oak. Very, very difficult to drill. Those HF 1/2" drills work better for me than my Makita one that can also hammer. So if I buy a HF one and get a couple big remodeling jobs out of it, it saves me a lot of frustration, lol! I guess I consider them disposable, but I'm definitely getting my $20 worth of work out of them.

Well from my non-authentic (clone) Kayfun tanks perspective. I'll never know how good an authentic KF is. My limited budget doesn't allow them. But I have 8 KF 3.1 clones that have been flawless for about a year now. And yeah I also buy tools from Harbor Freight. Back when I had more disposable cash I used better tools and had I been vaping then I might have bought an authentic KF.
Aaaah for the good old days.

Or having a wrench snap in your face and causing injury. Harbor freight is fine for small hand tools that arent going be getting torqued. Big sockets and adjustable wrenchs can and will snap, so stay away from them.

Perfect for vape stuff and costs less assembled and shipped than the raw wood for the original.

I've put harbor freight springs in probably 500 mods for shops, made copper pins, found SMPL c clips, have a ton of vape tools from there (flush cut wire snips are fantastic).

It's not a good analogy for Mods and vape gear.

A mechanical mod is a primitive electrically conductive shell and simple switch.
It's a flashlight, made from soft metals that are incredibly easy to mill, and dirt cheap.

They make freakin' iPhones in China!

So yes, some clones are as good or better than the original.

Example:
Search " Ivogo Dimitri clone vs original" and watch some videos.
The $30 clone outperforms the original, and is milled much better.

I've been using King mechanical clones for almost two years that I get from Fasttech. I have a friend who has an original so I could finally compare the two. In my opinion this only difference was the price. I may be wrong but $20 for a device beats $200-$300!!!

EDIT: I checked Fasttech's site and now they're down to $14.46. Even better!!!!

I'm all for clones, but I do know the limitations or where to gamble.

al my mech mods and rebuildables have been top notch, with a few exeptions (ok I've lost about $20 on bad clones so far)

I'm a mech user but if I weren't I wouldn't get a clone with a chip, I would definitely go with an original because of the specifics of the electronics, that said, a mech mod is really simple and once you learn to spot the potential issues just by images you are good to go...

I wouldn't by any stretch buy clone batteries

Aren't about all of components (and even boards themselves) are now made in Asia anyway?
