Are they really going to take this away from us?

check the yellow link at the top of the forum and sign the petition. But noone really knows if they will be banned or not. The fda recently held a public hearing to help them produce awnsers so they can start making some rules about them. Honestly this is all driven by useless hype about the ingredients and BT(big tobacco) and BP(big pharma) possibly losing billions because people dont buy tobacco you have to light on fire and noone getting sick and needing pills and doctors.

Only thing this administration is good at is generating red tape and new regulations......Government and government jobs are growing thats about it.

<begin rant>
True enough, but to be fair, as much as I wish it was all on Obama (because he won't be around more than four more years), Bush, Clinton, H W Bush all have had us moving in that direction. And lets not leave out the Senate full of career criminals legislators who care much more about growing their own power than the constituents they serve. Oh and I almost forgot the Supreme Court and its inability to do anything it is supposed to, and ability to do lots of things it should not.

It is almost like the branches that are supposed to be checking each other are in league with each other and keep moving us all in one direction while these two parties that are pretty similar pretend to fight over nothing, but keep doing the same stuff. Like the old Good Cop, Bad Cop trick. Of course we keep putting up with it so I suppose we deserve it. <end of rant>

Nice weather over the weekend though. The sun sure is nice after all the rain we have had.

I knew we were in trouble 30 years ago when one of my classmates was chosen to be a page in Congress and she came back telling us all horror stories about 60 old drunk Congressman propositioning her, her dorm mates and many of the boys as well. She was 12 years old at the time.

This petition is over half way full and started the 12th. Let's watch it GROW. Ends the 13th of February.
The above post is soooo scarey. It's good to know and bad to know. Very believable and very sad. There is a high rate of immorality in this world. Heard stories from the banking world, grocery store world horse eventing world etc.....so many lost souls huh? I signed this petition.
I'm one of those people who don't do politics actively but a good petition is easy stuff. Don't want the government to know your name and email address? They already do so who cares. It's not like the petition is for anything outrageous. We want our toys!

I've been told that the FDA is about to ban e-cigarette use! I'm panicking. This is the only quit smoking method that I've ever been able to stick to and I don't want to lose it!!!!! Is this really going to happen?

Yes, that the FDA's end game agenda. They would prefer the smoking population, both born and unborn, to die horrible deaths, so they don't have to payout Social Security out of the General Fund coffers. After all, congress has spent the SS money already. Better we die off faster so there is more money for them to spend in their districts.

Hmm? Read this thread for info on the subject not an Obama bash! Stick to the subject and keep your unfounded comments about MY president to yourself or go post on a FOX Noise blog. Anyway, I would assume any threat to remove them from the market would be placed under vote and met with strong opposition from larger companies like NJoy, Blu, Safecig, etc. I'll worry when I have too.

Hey wait a minute, I specifically said the issue is not just about Obama, it is about the system. Your president is my president and he sucks, just like Bush did before him, and 99% of the crooks in Washington D.C. currently running our government into the ground.

If you think the government you are getting is great, that is fine, but don't make me out to be a Republican Fox News Fan Boy when my post makes it clear I am anything other than that. You can call me a crazy anti-government freak suffering from ADHD and OCD, and that is at least more accurate. I was actually saying Washington, the two party system, and the electorate are broken. You can't blame that on Obama, he is just the latest game show host charlatan to take advantage of the people. The ultimate blame lay on the American people for tolerating this insanity, including me.

Gawd, will people never learn to leave politics out of the discussion? *rolls eyes into next state* :)
Before anyone gets snarky with me, my physical location is Germany, but I'm American...
PS. Has anyone bothered to look at all of the petitions on the white house site? There are some freakish posts there. I thought the death star petition from a few weeks ago was cool, but it's no wonder that they've raised the limit of required signatures. (Now at 100,000!!!)

a petition wont do anything, they couldn't careless. they will do what they want. the voice of the people is very small. obama is a tool and thats the bottom line. no one in congress listens to anyone who this ban directly affects. i ....ing hate this government and i wish a plague on all there houses.

just for the record i could care less wich party is in the white house. just give me a president that genuinely cares about the interests of his country, not just his daughters and his wife who should be married to bloomberg. they can all start banning, any soda products completely and skitles and or candy, and coffee, and and anything with more then 1mg of surgar in it, and gasoline, and firearms, and big trees, and limit the amount of children we can have, and music, and dancing, and smiling, and swearing, and what we buy, limit us to only one eletric care choice, banning cell phones, computers, peoples opinions... oh ya i can go all day people. we are scaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuddddddddeeeeeeeee!!!!!

rant done.

if Obama was so smart he would listen to us, he can stop this stupid law from passing, and suspend upon further evidence that pv's are dangerous or a health hazard. He can push the FDA to do another research other wise he wont ban such a device. He can do so much, all he cares about are his daughters, no one else in this country. the sad part is i voted for him twice. fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

I would be suprised at a total ban - I don't think that's in the offing. I don't expect any sort of ban on hardware - because the hardware can be used for 0 nic and possibly other non-nic related purposes.

I do expect a regulation and tax on nic containing juice. Probably limit the strength that can be sold, possibly the amount or size bottle that can be purchased and possibly even limit distribution of nic to pre-filled devices - like carts and disposables. I am also 50/50 on expecting them to limit flavors to tobacco, menthol or (possibly) unflavored.

To back this up they will cite the poisening risk of high mg juice sold in bottles, the dangers of "bathtub juice mixing" and the potential appeal to kids of fruit and candy flavorings.

I expect Big Tobacco to lobby hard against a total ban - if one is even being considered. But the restrictions I outlined above would actually be a benefit to BT - helping them control the market and sell less product for more $$. Nobody loves taxes but they will just pass those on to us.

That's my prediction (and what I'm prepping for) anyway.

If you look into the Obama administration's position on another current hot-topic - out of bounds for this forum - you will see that they aren't really that heavy handed about what people choose to put into thier bodies - but wherever money is involved, companies will lobby and distort the process.

And if I were going to be honest with myself, some of the items I mentioned are legitimate concerns. Nic liquid is highly poisenous. Kids love fruit flavors and snazzy devices - especially ones with social media features. Oversight will cost money. Vaping, like smoking, is a luxury and, if smoking is subject to a luxury tax, it could be argued that vaping should be as well.

I don't actually *want* any of the above to come true - I wish it could just stay like it is. But it seems like any industry that reaches critical mass gets regulated and controlled. You don't see people canning home grown tomatoes in thier garages and selling them on-line. As cottage industries grow - they leave the cottage behind.
