Thank you DawnBella, I am glad we have the common ground of vaping, and we can discuss politics on another site some time. Thanks to Cardiwen for keeping us on track and the thread open and maybe a bit more productive. I think all of us can agree that our freedom to vape should never be taken away! I really mean what I have said about CASAA. They are a bunch of good folks trying to protect us. Check them out. If we are organized as a community, we can get a lot more done.

I am sure financial support would be welcome as well, it does cost them money to fight for us. You make a one time gift or sign up for monthly gifts of $5 and up...just click the donate button on their home page...takes less time than signing a petition.

you know this thought just hit me...

order a sample of EVERY flavor from EVERY current vendor and test them.(or perhaps vendors could volunteer samples and send them to the FDA) Yes it would be a mountain of a task but would that not give the fda and us consumers a true representation of what is really in our e liquid?

and frankly if blu, njoy and similar are the only companies left standing after a ban, i would rather smoke analogs. their pre-filled crap tastes like i am vaping superglue mixed with paint thinner.

What I see as a potential action is limiting the nicotine level in the juice to a stupidly low number to the point that it is useless. Look at what is happening in Europe. There is an attempt to limit the nicotine to 4mg. For most vapers that is like breathing fresh air. The FDA doesn't have to ban anything. They can just make it so useless that people abandon vaping for smoking. Then BP can sell us more pills to keep our cancerous bodies around to take every last dollar we have before we die.

The FDA has many routes it can take that do not include banning e-cigs. They can make the red tape and requirements for selling nicotine liquid so cumbersome that the small juice vendors we know and love just can't do it any more and have to close up shop. Or, they could tax nicotine liquid for vaping purposes so highly that the small vendors can't afford it and they close up shop. The options to the tools at the FDA are basically limitless.

They do have a lot of tools. They are a mighty and dangerous foe. All we can do is show them we are strong, and make it undesirable for them to move against us. The more we let them know we are ready to fight for the right to vape, the less likely they are to attempt to bring the hammer down. I certainly expect something to be deemed that will make it a bit harder. I don't expect much more than some increased cost through taxes and a few annoying regulations. Maybe I am reading this wrong.

Vaping, like smoking, is a luxury and, if smoking is subject to a luxury tax, it could be argued that vaping should be as well.
Except that tobacco taxes are not a luxury tax, they are a "sin tax" based on the potential for harm that various tobacco products can cause.
That is why the various tobacco products have different tax rates.

Based on that, there is no justifiable reason to tax vaping as much as tobacco.
In fact, there is almost no justifiable reason to tax vaping whatsoever.

The problem we are facing is big pharma. They stand to lose out on a lot of money for two reasons. Less people will be using NRT marketed by them (think of the mark up on nicorette gum!). People who try these products basically throw money at big pharma, continue smoking and try another expensive product again. And, less people will be getting sick from smoking so even less money will go to big pharma. The FDA wants to probably regulate ecigs, so the can build a new office building and lab, and employ more people and get more of our tax money. Interesting that people want to tax ecigs, or ban them, when NRT isn't taxed or banned.

Ok I WILL not go into this on ECF. I respect them and the members way to much. But just the first page says it all. The FDA (ok I can';t print that here. You really trust them. Ever used some of the NRT's that they want you to?
Just asking. We really have no control over them. I don't care who is in charge or is is in the big seat. We the people are not "We the People of these United States". Ok I'm going to another thread before I get banned from ECF. Sorry Just my honest AMERICAN OKLAHOMA BORN AND BREED OPINION. And if you don't like it you can kiss my rocket fuel burning, goat smelling OKLAHOMA BORN REAR END. Well I guess that makes it offical that I'll be kicked off ECF. Oh well.

hey wait a minute, i specifically said the issue is not just about obama, it is about the system. Your president is my president and he sucks, just like bush did before him, and 99% of the crooks in washington d.c. Currently running our government into the ground.

If you think the government you are getting is great, that is fine, but don't make me out to be a republican fox news fan boy when my post makes it clear i am anything other than that. You can call me a crazy anti-government freak suffering from adhd and ocd, and that is at least more accurate. I was actually saying washington, the two party system, and the electorate are broken. You can't blame that on obama, he is just the latest game show host charlatan to take advantage of the people. The ultimate blame lay on the american people for tolerating this insanity, including me.

well said my furry friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Bella and I are okay. Me getting into a shouting contest with her over something like that does not help the cause of vaping, and is just the sort of stupid thing those political parties love. If people who have the common interest in vaping are getting at each others throats over nothing, those shysters in D.C. have already defeated us. Bella is actually a pretty good person who just has different political views than me, that is okay. And she likes horses, and while they are not as cool as lions, are still pretty cool.

You lending your support to me is appreciated, tnt, good to see you as always!

Bottom line is that the FDA will do and provide whatever they want to. Look at all the stuff THEY approved and all the people that have become sick by it. So who wins? The one that's alive or the ones that are dead?.
It might help to remember that we have already defeated the FDA once.

I truely hate to disagree but you and we will never be able to defeate the FEDS. Look back on time. I wish it were so and I still stand and fight for my rights today and as long as I breath. But sad to say it's not what the people want but who has the cash that the politicians want. :2c:

They would rather have us use chantix.

I was dupped into buying it. Insurance doesn't cover smoking cessation so I paid out of pocket, very expensive. It caused my smoking to skyrocket. I became very ancey and smoked non stop. I attribute this to it working and blocking the absorption of nicotine. I couldn't sleep, when I would drink I would get very drunk, I had weird dreams, and became antisocial. The last straw was when I was driving down the highway and I was overcome with severe fear of dying. I was sure the wheels on my car were going to fall off for some reason. My chest became very tight, it was very hard to breath. I've never been so scared in my life. Luckily I had read some forums on chantix and talked with sme friends. They all said they had very bad experiences with it and once they stopped taking it they felt fine after a few days. So yeah, big pharma. How that medicine is on the market and FDA approved I have no idea, then again I heard FDA actually stands for federation of dumb a*ses
