all mine where hand tamed and they still did not want them.. They ended up costing me close to 200$ to give away most of them.. found a old folks home and built a big cage for them to have in a sitting room..

Awww, that's quite nice of you, Lab ! Sounds like an ideal solution to me.

I am amazed that 100% of voters thus far are pet owners... Wow.

I have:
3 cats
2 birds
1 rat (down from 2 as of a few weeks ago... one died...)
1 ferret
Going to be getting some fish soon too...

...and maybe a dog sometime in the next couple years...
...and maybe another cat soon...
...and another ferret or two...
...and an elephant...

Well, not 100%. I'm an other, because I'm not allergic, and pets are ok in my house, which I own. There are other reasons, besides those two possibilities listed for not having a pet. I'm presently petless.

We have two beautiful dogs...

Our oldest is our pug, Bambi. She turns 11 in September. We've had Bambi since she was about 8 weeks old. She is not your typical pug, though. She was raised as a farm dog with lots of dogs much bigger than she is. So, she is very thin. She thinks she is a big dog and has no problem roughhousing with dogs 10 times her weight. She also played surrogate mom to many of the kittens we used to rescue, so she loves cats. She also adores children.

Our newest addition to the family is Dakota. Dakota is a 17 month old beagle/blue heeler mix. We have had Dakota since the moment he was born. His mom was our beagle who we had to get rid of (she was a very aggressive dog and actually ended up killing our oldest pug). She had a litter of 8 beautiful babies. I actually had to raise all of them starting at 4 weeks because she decided she didn't want to play mama anymore. It broke my heart to give them away. But we found great homes for all of them and decided to keep one. Dakota is very intelligent and easy to train. He is energetic, perceptive and very loyal. He is very friendly once he gets to know you, but he does not like human strangers. He loves all animals though, whether he knows them or not. He figures; if it's got fur or feathers it was put on this earth to be his playmate.

I have a Lemon Beagle named Tessa!

Awww. Small world. We had a lemon beagle for 10 years. His name was George, and he loved riding with us in the semi. He used to sit in the jump seat (passenger seat) and wag his tail whenever we would pass someone. He's gone to doggie heaven from Cancer, and we miss him very much!

Do you have a pic of your dog you could post? I'd love to see it!

1 dog pomeranian/dachsund mix named Brooklyn, 2 cats Taz & Buffy. Buffy was adopted from the shelter. We did have 3 cats but 1 left yesterday to live with the kids mawmaw in La. We just moved here & all my cats are used to going in & out & the 1 that just moved, P2, was getting on all the neighbors boats & cars & I couldn't keep him in so he went to roam where he has more room. I live around a lot of snow birds now & I really don't want to anger my new neighbors. P2 adopted us. He was living where we just moved from before we were there. I will miss him.

We have two beautiful shih tzus and a bearded dragon. The beardie of course thinks he is in charge.

My sis has a shih tzu. She adopted her from the shelter, but she originally came from a puppy mill. She is the sweetest dog! She loves to play with her toys, and loves attention. She's a little bit afraid of my dogs (3 of them I call baby moose!), but she loves my mini Dacshund. I pet sit sometimes, so I wind up with a whole pack with mine included, but that's OK with me!

One dog.

Some day I may have two dogs, but I will ALWAYS have at least one dog.
There is no way I would ever not have a dog.

I like dogs better than people.
Except of course my wife.
:D

When it comes to explaining the way I feel about dogs, I simply say; "A life without dogs is no life for me".

Don't get me wrong, I love cats too. But for different reasons. In fact, I love all animals, all for different reasons. Yes, even animals some might consider "icky". I have gone out of my way and risked my own personal safety to save a bat's life. A bat who was none to appreciative I might add. He kept trying to turn my thumb into a late night snack. I'm not unique in this though. There are many people like me.

My point is that while many of us love animals in general, dogs hold a special place in our hearts. Dogs are incredible.
