Black / Tan basset hound named " Melvin the terrible"...he's a whopping 65 lb big baby boy who loves to carry whatever he can find outside..i have to constantly go in the backyard to find what new treasure's he has taken to the wildlife creatures.

Basset/beagle Mix " Bessie Bagle" she's my old gal thats lazy and loves to snuggle and occasionally growl at Melvin to settle him down. She only barks when chasing rabbits.

Chocolate lab.

After my last dog, Winnie, a rescued Rottweiler, Lab and who-knows-what-else mix, died from cancer, I thought I was done with dogs and the pain of losing them. But the kids were so sad, my husband was sad, the house was empty... we got a new dog... I picked her up, she licked my face... My girls named her Hershey. She's 7 years old.

My older daughter volunteers at our local animal shelter and every week tells me about a new dog we should adopt. It's so sad that there are so many unwanted pets out there and people keep buying dogs from pet stores (puppy mills). Breaks my heart. Looks like we're going to adopt another dog soon.

Katya;

I know how you feel! Here in Missouri puppy mills are a terrible problem. In my area, people don't bother with taking their animals to the shelter. Many of the poor animals are just dumped in the country to fend for themselves.
We found our .... hound mix in the ditch just down the road from our house. He was about 10 weeks old, and had been beaten so badly, the vet said he had no reaction to pain stimulus! Thank God he healed up just fine. It took him awhile to learn to trust us, but he has grown into the most loving, gentle dog! I call him my baby moose!
We rent, so we are limited to the number of pets we can have. If not for that, I probably would have an actual animal sanctuary!

I'm so glad to see so many pet parents here!! What a wonderful menagerie!

Well up until a couple weeks ago I had 4 indoor cats. Had to put down my favorite two, my 11 yr old siamese Sammy and my 7 yr old three legged BoBo Magee, due to kidney disease.:cry::(:( Now I have a 12yr old orange and white lardo with 6 toes named QT and a 2 yr old torti named lucky. Both rescues. And I have one named Mama (10 yrs old) at work that I have fixed up. She's kind of our mascot. I'm on the look out for another siamese.:)

When we had to put our last dog down for reasons nobody really wants to hear, I took the day off work and went through all the local shelters. My goal was to have another dog IMMEDIATELY but that didn't work out. But within three days we had our new pal, and she is every bit the joy that was our old pal.

I made a tribute to our old pal though, complete with pictures that would make you cry.
And yeah, I cried putting them together too.

I'm such a wuss.

Mini donkey named Baby D
Mini Horse named Hershey
2 Goats names Lightening and Layla
3 Horses 2 are rescues Candy and Cloudy and Cirrus
2 Cows, my husband did not intend them to be pets, but he works on the road 10 days at a time and left me alone with them so now Cupcake and Brownie think they are dogs.
