I do eventually plan on quitting vaping but at my own pace. It will take much longer then the patches or gum, here they only give you a few months. I started at 24 mg of nicotine and have already reduced it to 18. I'll stay there for a while before dropping it lower. Eventually down to just a little over zero before quitting.

But it may take a year or more to accomplish this.

Never really quit smoking, it just happened that way.

In my mind I'm still a smoker, or at very least a nicotine addict. Just happy to be not killing myself to get nicotine.

I will stop vaping when I cbf'd with it anymore, or when it no longer serves any purpose for me.

Cold turkey will be the way to go when that time comes.

That's exactly how I feel over a year later. I was just talking about this with another person trying to quit the "ol' fashioned" cold turkey way. I simply traded one vice for another. I don't know what I would do if I wasn't vaping or smoking...?

It suits me perfectly, though:) I'm one very HAPPY ex-smoker!!

I've heard of many people that have dropped their nic level over time quite comfortably, though I suspect that just as many people will have a really tough time doing that.

I'm one of those. Dropping nicotine, for me, just causes a constant state of withdrawal-like symptoms until I finally get used to the lower nic level, or I vape like a lunatic trying to get more of what isn't there. Same as when you try to cut down regular cigs.

I'd rather be comfortable vaping at whatever nic level makes me happy (28mg currently) and just give it up completely when I'm ready to go through the 2-3 weeks of discomfort.

I don't know of any method of ceasing nicotine usage that rivals cold turkey in effectiveness, and because its also the toughest method, I believe the key is that these people really want to give up.

I've done it twice. Sadly even up to 2 years later, it only takes one cigarette to push you off the wagon.

I started cutting back after I started vaping. from 1 1/2 ppd to 5-7 a week until now I just vape. I have no plans on quitting vaping as of yet be like many I am cutting back on the nicotine level. And its so much safer then cigarettes so why not? I have smoked for 12 years so I'm not going to quit vaping in a year or even several.

Personally I love the taste and how convenient it is to vape. And I can breath again!!! and I must say it's amazing.

I think eventually I will try to quit vaping. I am going through the process of dropping my nic from 24 mg to 18 mg, and I will probably stay there until I am comfortable, then step down to 12, then so on. I've had to make adjustments to the PG/VG ratio at the same time to keep the TH I was getting.

I plan on moving to low or 0 nic, but I don't really have any intentions to quit. I started at 24mg, and now I'm down to 12mg or less, just depending on what juice I'm using. Yesterday and today I've mostly been using my new 6mg Berry Potter from Ahlusion (really good, btw). I plan on ending up in the 0mg - 6mg range, so far so good. The actual act of vaping is a great stress reliever for me, regardless of nic level. I think everyone deserves a few vices in life. I rarely drink, rarely gamble, and no longer smoke, so I'm comfortable with my vaping habit. I look at vaping the same way I look at my Mtn Dew habit. Nicotine and caffeine are addictive, and not necessarily very good for me, but everyone does something that's not all that good for them, and I don't think mine are that bad in the grand scheme of things. :D

I do have a coworker who successfully quit vaping about 6 months ago. He switched from smoking to vaping at the beginning of last summer, and then over the course of the summer stepped down his nic level, and eventually quit altogether around last September. Hasn't touched a PV or a cigarette since.

I am wondering how many people took up vaping in order to quit analogs and now wish to quit vaping but can't

I must say that I started with this with a view to quitting altogether but wonder if I have just changed one bad habit for another (less unhealthy) but bad habit.

Your views will be interesting.

I'm glad I switched, and was just talking about this with someone this morning. If I had to quit for some reason, I think I'm more aligned to just quitting everything and not smoking again at all. I've no desire to stop vaping though. It's just fun.

I started with 24 mg and analogs. After 3 weeks, 24 mg with no analogs. After a month at 24 mg I dropped to 18 mg. One month on 18 mg and I started making my own juices at 15 mg. At this point, I'm not dwelling on quitting although I'd like to eventually get the nic down to 8 - 12 mg. There are so many wonderful flavors available that if I vaped caramel or butterscotch all day, I'd be better off than eating caramels or butterscotch discs all day. Not only have I quit smoking, I also quit eating candy.

I agree. A life with no vices would be very dull. I don't believe you can be absolutely safe no matter what you do, and nobody is going to live to be 150 anyway. You weigh the pros and cons, make your choices, and take your chances.......LOL

I have no immediate intention to quit vaping. I've tried to step down my nic level, but without the TH, it does nothing for me. However, with the recent studies suggesting that nicotine can help with Alzheimers (which runs rampant in my family) I'm probably going to continue using it.

My bf, however, wants to quit vaping as well. He's already down from 18mg to between 6-10mg. However, he can't even go to the grocery store without taking a back up 1100mah ego battery and 3 full 2ml cartomizers so I don't really see that happening any time soon.

I have on a few occasions forgot my pv and was gone all day with no withdrawal symptoms or urge to smoke so I feel I could walk away from it if I chose to.

I've gone from 31 mg's of nicotine down to 10 mg's of nicotine in about one month. I think around the middle of next month I'll step down on the nicotine some more. My goal is to get down to no nicotine....and if I continue to vape, especially under periods of stress, I'll be ok with that, as it's ALOT better than reaching for one of my husband's cigarettes. Will I eventually stop vaping all together? Don't know, I'm playing that one by ear. My first goal was to get off analogs. (accomplished that) My second goal is to get off nicotine (working on that one) We'll see where I go from there. I'm sure not going to push myself to stop vaping anytime soon.
