Thanks again!

I am about or order the Joye 510 (a gf recommended this site and e-cig to me). It seems to have good reviews. Good choice?

What else do I need?
Patience, for figuring out its not a cigerette .Imagination , to make it feel like a cigerette.Really it was very easy, almost all joy no pain to switch to pv's that it seems like a dream still after 8 months. If you give it 1/millionth the effort you do to finding a lighter in the morning it most likely will bring you so much joy and self respect you wont be able to stand on the ground.Good luck.

I started with a Joye eGo which is the same thing as a 510 but the batteries last much longer. Because the batteries are larger, the eGo doesn't resemble a real cigarette as much as the 510, but that's not a problem for me. Either one would be an excellent choice.

I only got tobacco flavored juices, and I cant wait for my new flavors to arrive. Be sure to try flavors besides tobacco; there's no reason vaping has to taste bad!

You'll need at least two of everything to start out with. That way, if something goes bad (and it will) you can still get by until replacements arrive.

I have cartridges + atomizers, as well as some cartomizers (where the cartridges are combined with the atomizers). Cartomizers take longer to refill, but are easier to swap out and don't run out of juice as quickly, so they're great for long distance driving. Otherwise I mostly use cartridges and atomizers. It's not a bad idea to have some of each.

Try to get as much stuff as you can from the same vendor. I spent a ton of money on shipping because I didn't really know what I needed and had to keep ordering stuff before I could even get started.

Welcome to ECF, Suze!

I smoked for 30 years, about a pack a day, maybe a little more. When I first started I was using one of those ones from a mall kiosk that looks like a cigarette. (It was a gift from my husband.) Once I realized that this was going to work for me I started researching and landed here.

For the first week I gradually cut way down and then had to make a conscious decision to quit. The first few days after that were a little uncomfortable, but definitely tolerable. I had previously tried cold turkey, weaning myself off, hypnosis, nicotine patches, nic gum, etc. Using the e-cigarette (I prefer the term personal vaporizer, or pv for short.) was nothing like any of my previous quit attempts. It was something I could do and it was relatively painless. I've now been smoke free for eight weeks! For me, that's a miracle! And I never thought I was going to have to kill somebody. :D

I would recommend you read the forums, especially the library area. There are some great threads in there that will help you understand this whole process. Don't miss DonDaBoomVape's six part series, "The Wonderful World of Vaping."

After my first cigarette looking pv I switched to a 510. I got tired of the battery life of those and got some eGo's. (The eGo's are also a 510, but with a better battery.) If I had it to do over, I'd avoid the initial frustrations and go straight to the eGo. The other thing you'll need are some good e-juices. My favorites come from Tasty Vapor, but Ms T's, MadVapes, and others have really good stuff, too. Lots of reviews here and all are users just like you and me.

Last thing, keep trying, and ask questions. This group will get you through any difficulties. In fact, this is one of the best forums I've ever been part of, everyone tries to help. (Well, maybe not everyone, but most everyone!)

Good luck!

Great tip on the abbrev, audio and congrats on the new job!

Where do you buy online?

Thanks. To celebrate, I bought a couple of T-bones!

I got two eGos and a charger from Cignot for $78.00. Warning! The 2-eGo set (and probably the 510 set) came with the battery charger, but not with the AC adaptor (the thing that plugs into the wall that you plug your charger into); I had to order the AC adaptor once I realized that I couldn't use the charger without it. Cignot is my favorite place to get stuff (they're really fast), but they don't have a large selection of juices. Ms. Ts has a great selection of juices, but they're made to order and it could take a week or two to get them. You might want to go to the e-liquid reviews and jot down some names, then go to their various websites and see what they have.

I smoked more than 2 packs/day for nearly 30 years, and I've been using 24 mg juice. It works fine for me, but it wouldn't hurt to have some 36 mg and 18 mg on hand.

If you feel like you've decided to go the 510 route, here's a really good sale going on now through tomorrow. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...brate-4th-w-dual-ego-kit-57-23-delivered.html

It's two complete eGo's, USB charger with an AC plug and five pre-filled cartridges. I bought a set for back-ups. (I'm the back-up queen.) They do have the Nicotine Nirvana logo on them, but it's a pretty logo, so that doesn't bother me. Also, if you can figure out why the discount is what it is (easy) they'll throw in a free 10 ml bottle of juice.

I would normally recommend Cignot as I think they're a great company, but right now that sale is the best I've seen.

Saving money? Uh, not yet. I've spent more on this than I would have with cigarettes. BUT...it's the best money I've ever spent because I'm not smoking. Now that I've settled into the eGo and found some good juices it's going to get much less expensive. The initial trial and error period was rather expensive for me.

....Do you save much money with a PV vs cigs?
Welcome and good luck on your journey Suze!

Many here would recommend you not put great pressure on yourself to completely cut out the smokes immediately, and I would certainly second that sentiment. What you don't hear around here as often is the money end of it.

I personally made a decision right off that has served me very well, and without which, I may not have had the great success that I have had. Only my opinion, but I recommend to every one I help get started that they invest the same amount they have been spending on cigarettes for at least a few months (my plan was 6 months). While incredible savings are available once you have decided on what works for you, your chances of success are greatly increased if you are willing and able to "guiltlessly" try new things until you find what works for you.

Having said that, I am now a little over 4 months in, and my consummables run me less than $2 a day. For a former two pack a day guy, that is an incredible savings. In the very beginning, the savings did not appear as great as it took some trial and error to find what works for me.

All newbs would do themselves a big favor if they put off the need for monetary savings temporarily and settled for the many other benefits which are instant. Once you have settled into a routine and know that what you buy is going to satisfy you, then saving money will be automatic. I would have to really go nuts to spend the $350 a month I was shelling out on cigs.

All you veterans out there.....if you agree with this sentiment, please repeat it. Smokers are already spending tons of money to kill themselves, a few more months to save themselves is a wonderful investment. The savings will come but maybe not day one.

I second everything Upinthehills said above. I ordered from Nicotine Nirvana on a Thursday morning and received the kit on Saturday afternoon, everything in it was as-advertised. I'm quite satisfied with the purchase.

And then I turned around and loaned it to a friend at work who wants to try e-cigs! Oh well, it was just for spares anyway.

(Nicotine Nirvana seems to be in Nevada)

You're very welcome, Suze. Now, look around and pick out some yummy juices. Also, read up on getting the primer out of an atomizer. Nothing worse than vaping primer. Blech.

My favorite juices are from Tasty Vapor: Tasty Vapor - E-Cigarette Forum But, they don't do samples.

My next favorite is Ms. T's: Ms T's Bakery - E-Cigarette Forum And they have small bottles to sample for $5.00 each.

There are lots of others out there, too. Go read the e-liquid reviews section and see if there aren't things you read about that appeal to you: E-Liquid Reviews - E-Cigarette Forum

    Somewhere between here and there
I didn't really give it much thought but like mick was saying, I did allow myself what I was spending on cigarettes as a budget for e-cig supplies. I wasn't spending near that much since cigarettes were much cheaper here. I was spending about 140-160 a month. That was a decent budget for me. Now I buy my liquids in bulk and just occasionally try something new. The places that upinthehills recommended for liquids are all good. Another good one is nhaler.com . I have been buying from Drew since I got my first kit and he is great to deal with and his liquids are fantastic.
