I know exactly what my children do.
Yes, my teenage daughter vapes, I gave her the mod and tanks she uses. They do not leave the house. She had started smoking and this was the way to stop that. I also refill her bottles and check her tanks every few days (randomly) to ensure nothing else is being put into the tanks.
My almost teen twins do not vape, don't have time for that type of stuff and are totally disinterested. I give them 2 years...

Thing is, I remember being 14 to 16 yo. I started smoking at 14 and didn't stop until 37 years later.
They are going to try! Take the mystery out of it as soon as possible, take away the restrictions (at least at home) on what they can and can not do and the danger aspect disappears.

I also know that most of my side of the family has smoked for generations. Nicotine does help a lot of folks in it's own way. I want to at least let my children be safer.

Both of my parents smoked and then I picked it up when I was in junior high. By high school, I got tuned to the campus smoking section.

Both my kids have used my vape. One still smokes and the other gets good grades.

Well, they both get good grades ;).

My kids are 2 and 7, so of they do it's super sneaky.

That 2yr old is puffing out like a champ when you are napping.

Mine is 18 and broke so no she isn't. She did smoke a cigarette once and didn't like it. Vaped twice and did like it, but again can't afford it. Really though if vaping is all you have to worry your kids might be doing then I say ignore that one and count your blessings.

My kid vapes.. I bought him his first vape gear.. I am happy that I was able to be a positive influence on him, as he was smoking 3 packs a day of Marlboro reds prior to getting into vaping. Did I mention he's 34?

You might have mentioned that.

My 11yo doesn’t seem interested. He’s a smart kid and I sat him down when I picked up vaping and told him what I was doing and why. My other two are 5 and 2 and for now they know these things are only for adults to touch and things are kept out of their reach, the same as with any other adult items such as alcohol. As each one reaches the ages of experimentation I’ll deal with each one individually. I hope none of them ever want to vape but as they get older I’d hate to see them smoke even more.

Here's the thing. .. my son started smoking because of my smoking .. he hid it from me the first year he smoked, but in the end it was entirely my influence that caused it I'm sure.

We DO influence our children with our actions, but I'd rather someone influence their kid to lean toward vaping if they are going to pick up a habit, than something like cigarettes or even alcohol..

I had two children, one was a smoker and one never was (until she was dying (and then only two or three cigarettes a day.. it was just a lot of stress and it helped her deal) )

We sometimes influence them not to do a thing by doing that thing, and sometimes we influence them to do that thing too.. but if we are going to influence them, then let it be vaping over cigarettes.

    between here and there
    True.

I have always have told my kids we mature to be like our parents, or we mature despite of them.

Kids brains are like a sponge, they absorb information more on what it feels like rather than on logic or examples set. Their brains have not matured enough to rationally think anything through and they don't usually have the ability on their own to give their emotions a voice. That is where a parent should help guide their kids in what they are feeling and why and help them to mature by giving what they are feeling a voice. Time and effort spent explaining actions by an adult is more meaningful to a child if they understand why you do or don't do something.

Leading by example sounds good on paper but it takes a mature adult to realize it. jmho

My lad tried it last year aged 12, but it was mostly due to peer pressure from a not so nice crowd of friends he had at the time, other circumstances like the fact that he'd nicked one of my old mods and was sneaking out the house at night to do it meant we came down on him like a ton of bricks - for the latter two things rather than the vaping itself. Since then he's shown no interest in it (and has new friends). Like others have said though, if I suspected for one moment he was smoking cigarettes I'd take him down the vaping store myself!

Interesting thing with kids vaping, I've seen once or twice underage kids buying eliquid where I live and both times I've heard them ask for 0% nicotine. Nicotine is not something you set out to want, until your body is hooked on the chemical it's just not something you'd even consider. Kids are influenced by youtube videos of twenty something year olds (acting like teenagers) making vaping seem like the cool new thing to do. If kids can do this with 0% nic then it will just become like any other passing phase, they'll do it for a while, get bored, move on to the next big thing. If you can keep them off the nic then thats all it becomes.

Mine aren't that young anymore. My son is 25 and has graduated college. My daughter is 20 and in her second year. Neither of them smoke or vape, which strikes me as something of a miracle considering I smoked incessantly when they were growing up.

Mine does neither as well. He's 21 and heavily involved in MMA. No drinking, no drugs, no smoking or vaping of any kind.
I'll post back when the results of the DNA test is complete. Until then, I'll continue to throw suspicious glances at my wife. :sneaky:
