Be aware that even business people have some vacation from time to time, especially around Christmas and /or New Year. Gice them some more days...
To raise awareness you could post your pictures of faulty ARES on FB as a comment to this thread if you have an account ()

Thanks for the idea. I will post it right away. And yes, you must be right. They do have some vacation although my knowledge was that the Chinese New Year is somewhere around.. February? :) I might be wrong though...

It was just a long weekend... You should hear from them by tomorrow... hopefully.

It finally arrived! It's taller than I expected, taller than the berserker, primarily because of the larger chamber of the Ares. Overall, I also think the Berserker looks nicer, although nowhere near as nice as something high end like the Skyline.

Draw -
With so many complaining about the draw I was expecting something quite airy but compared to the Berserker (both at the smallest holes), I can't say that there is a huge difference. Yes, the Berserker is tighter but not really that noticeable and for someone like me who likes true MTL draws, they both feel right.

Flavour -
I haven't put the same juice in both of them, I will be doing that tomorrow. However, I know what both of the juices taste like and the Ares is really good. I can't say if I consider one to be slightly better than the other until tomorrow but I can say that both of them amasing.

Disclaimer -
I'm using the 2ml version, in both cases. This definitely affects flavour and I believe it could have a small effect on the draw in the case of the Ares. If someone is not as satisfied with his, I would consider trying the smaller version.

Okay, mine is here. Hoping to build tomorrow. I do tc so won't be using supplied kanthal coils.

What build are you all finding works best for you (wire type, gauge, dia., # wraps, ohms)? And any preferred spacing from the shower head?

I’ve built a ton on both of mine. I’ve found that spaced coils, 6 wraps, 26g comes at .8 and 28g comes to 1.2. Whenever I use a spaced coil, I get popping when it first heats up, but no spit back or anything negative.

My favorite so far has been a 2mm coil with 28g. I think it’s wrapped 9. My eyes suck, and I wasn’t really counting. I made this one contact after heat, and it’s 1.0. Flavor is fantastic, and it’s super smooth.

All with kanthal, I only have that in 26g and 28g. Also, I have 3 cottons to test stuff out. My favorite by far are the KGD pads from amazon (looks like the one that came with the tank too).

For best flavor contact coils work best for me, too. I use 28g ss316 wire, 2.5 mm ID.
Spaced 3mm coil gave me muted flavor only.
K.
Always amazed by different experiences of people. For me, I can close the spacing as much as I want, but if I make a contact coil it gives me less flavor.

316L 26g 2.5mm spaced. I make the coils long enough to fit the "posts" without bending them. Comes out to about 0.5 ohms.
I've not tried a 2mm coil on this one. It looks like there would be too much air blowing by the coil, and Phil's build tool is 2.5 and 3mm so I took my guidance from that.

I think the biggest thing that is missed in reviews and in forums is there is no catch-all to how to build to get flavor. It is dependent on juice. Too many factors in juice to ever have a coil that works with everything.

There's no catch-all on how to make an apple pie...just sayin'....and that's not including how many different ways there are to cook/prepare it.

Most here are experienced Vapers and have an idea as to what builds work best for them. I find that most tanks that I try all work pretty well to great with the build I use daily.

This is true because you know how to build for your juices. The juices I vape and what others vape, may require a completely differnt build to bring out their flavors. This is evident in just about every thread on this forum. Everyone will run something a little different. Like I said, there is no catch all build for everyone.

I couldn´t agree more. It´s amazing how slight variances can affect how your vape tastes. Specially when you have complex mixed DIY juices there are SO MANY variables that can affect the taste. For example my all-day juice is a "Mojito type" juice made from two different lemon concentrates, rum, peppermint and sweetener. Depending on the coil, diameter, spaced or contac, wicking, distance from coil to airhole, atomizer, watts, mouth condition, etc. I taste very different nuances of my juice, sometimes I get heavy sweetness and muted peppermint, sometimes very little sweetness and massive menthol taste, sometimes the lemon taste is dominant.

There is no universal "what is best", there is only: what is best for YOU!

For those of you wondering/waiting.

I contacted innokin about the defects on 12/21, and today, I got 2 sealed Ares from them in the mail.

Not too bad for being over he holiday season.

Will open one tonight and see if it’s any different, etc.

Although they sent me 2, stainless ones, there goes my black one!!

I think my replacement will be here tomorrow, mine was black, so will see what I get, I would prefer to have the black again, but as long as it doesn't seep from the top fill, I will happy :)

Was yours the same as mine with the seeping from the top cap?

Well my black one, the seal near the fill cap would sometimes get caught and pinched, and it always closed kinda “hard”.

Just opening the new one, it slid WAY easier and didn’t even get close to catching and pinching. The airflow ring seems tighter (physically) as well.

However, the drip tip is wobbly as all heck. Although I prefer the curved one anyway, or a spare nautilus 2 tip.

    Will build tonight!
