No sense speculating -- only Demi and PB and know how it all came about.

Right. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to suggest anything nefarious was going on--I was just taken aback by the striking similarity between those two toppers (;)), that's all. And I wasn't the only one.

I remember watching Phil's original review of the Siren and that raised deck plus his comments about warm vape were enough to keep me away. I am forever looking for a simplified version of Kayfun 4--that is my ideal vape, minus the hassle. :D But it looks like the Ares is indeed very similar to the Siren, which I rejected originally. Too bad, I had great hopes for this tank. I'm sure it's a great tank--just not what I was hoping for.

Tips? Does that sound au curant? I have no prob with drip tips as an identifier, but I can see how newbs might be confused. Mouth pieces? I dunno, Ya, , , sounds like a night guard.

Agreed!
I'm with you on "mods", but it's become old hat to refer to them that way. Habit, bay'bee. I tend to (= try to) call them devices, but even THAT word can be interpreted.

I can't help you too much here. The bottom is a vaporizer (to me), or a device (soooooooo generic). The atty, tank, clearo, or "jdd" is a topper. I named it such and haven't let go. :D

Right, but the bottom is not a vaporizer to me; if anything, it's the topper that's doing the vaporizing--the bottom just supplies power.

And I fought the term JUICE (tooth and nail) for all these years. E-Liquid or V-Liquid. mmm hmmm.

Didn't do any good, but it DID make me smile. ;)

You did, indeed. I'm rather partial to joose, though! :D

The only term I fought from the very beginning was "analog." I hate that word with a passion--who's idea was it, anyway, to call a cigarette an analog. Anyway, I think our side won, because I'm not seeing many analogs around here lately.

So before I drop my final thoughts on the Ares. How far up should the coil be from the diffuser? Leads on the bottom or on the top? I was expecting more from the flavor.

I position my coil (26ga kanthal, 3mm inner diameter) about 2mm above the air diffuser with the leads on the bottom. I'm getting great flavor.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe in the comments/replies to his Youtube "introduction" with Dimitris, he recommended 1-1.5mm above the "air port" as he calls it. And I believe someone asked about this earlier in the thread- that he also said it wasn't designed to use higher than 2.5mm coil. Not that it wouldn't work, but that it wasn't designed for larger.

Well I've tried a 3.0mm coil, and a 2.5mm coil. Flavor.....Blah. Currently running the 2.5mm ss316l 26 gauge .51 ohms. 440F 30 joules. Only thing I can blame is on is my taste buds. Debating on wrapping another coil, throw an extra wrap on it, maybe try lowering it a bit. Maybe I'll try different flavor juice too. Another big issue I've got with it, and I'm surprised no else has complained about. Is the drip tip.

The two orings on the drip tip, need to be thicker. It's not tight enough in there. Tried the other tip, and darn thing won't even fit. Tried some of my other drip tips, and those don't fit flush.

Not a fan of the afc. I wish I clicked, some resistance, or something. But that's minor.

Some pros..........Everything that is including. The packaging, and everything that is included is awesome. Stupid easy to build on. The appearance isn't bad either. I've seen better looking tanks. Looks great on my SX Mini G class, compared to the Kayfun Prime. I really wish Kayfun would release a 24-25mm MTL tank in different colors.

For the cost, it's a great tank. Much better than my siren 2 that was disappointed by. Great tank to add as a cheap backup to my Prime. But flavor wise, blah. I must be doing something wrong.

Katya, you might be on to something. Just start calling the Bottom a "Power Supply". Yes ?? No ?? Or maybe a "PS" for short ??
Sorry for length & off topic again! On the nomenclature- I don't mind most of it, if it doesn't cause confusion.
I really struggled with the term Mods - my son was saying it, and I was sure he was wrong, because he wasn't modifying anything. But I'm okay with that one now. At least the name made sense, given its origin. It's easier to say than most alternatives, and isn't going to be confused for a different part. In fact, it's kind of cool - a nod to the pioneers that really kick started this industry. As a business owner and late-comer who was involved a little in the early days, I really am in awe of the vaping industry, too. Really neat the way it was driven by small independent, enthusiastic innovators that used the product, and how fast it's maturing. And (for now), it's still not driven by BT, Big pharm, government, or anyone but the amazing innovators learning and responding to what the market wants. But (as I often doo_O) I digress.

I don't mind drip tip, either - made sense originally, and most people would know what you're talking about, whether they were vapers or not. Analogs - kind of a stretch from elec/digital/analog, but kind of clever, I guess.

Coil terminology can be confusing because there are so many variations, I guess. But truth is, it doesn't bother me since I use, and am not likely to change soon, a simple single coil, most often spaced. I can see how it'd be easier to have standard terms for everyone using more exotic builds, I guess.

The hard part for me is talking about the parts of an atty. I guess there aren't standard terms yet, because each "game changer" design introduced has parts its predacessors didn't. I guess once the technology matures, and the innovation curve levels out a little, most will share components. Meanwhile, it'd be nice if there were universal terms to identify, for instance, where the air comes into the atty - EAI (external air intake?) or something like that. Or for the area where that air is introduced into the atty, at the coil - as Phil calls it, the air port. Stuff like that.

Wow - the drip tip that came with it doesn't fit? And not just because of a gnarly o-ring or something?

You've probably tried, but for some reason I always get way more flavor on .28 SS than .26. I don't understand why it's such a big difference for me, but it is, so I've got a bunch of .26 I'll never use.

What, specifically, didn't you like about Siren 2 that you like about this?

Just remember that the whole thing put together is a Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhalation System. You can use the acronym.

Siren 2 I received is next to impossible to adjust the airflow. Stiff as hell. Didn't find the flavor all that amazing either.

Yes! I always struggle with this one when I need to describe the size of the "diameter of the air port (airflow opening/hole" under the coil."

Yes, too many words! One day, we'll have a universal and perfect word for it. But it won't be as much fun talking about it.:)
