Thanks. That's what I thought it might be, but wasn't positive. Are they still for sale then ??
Yep - kayfun Mini V3. SXK and SJMY made the best clones, but for a while, any kayfun clone was removed from fasttech and 3F. They're back now, but only 2 versions, neither the "name brand" clones. And I can't find either of those anywhere. I'm about to order another one since I broke the center post on one of mine:https://www.fasttech.com/products/9459700,
I'm telling you- remove the airflow screw, and it's kind of open, but this tank gives the best throat hit by far, and great flavor. Worth a try for less than $10, if you haven't tried one before.

It does help, thanks Ian. But I'm afraid I just can't get there from here. I'm beginning to really regret having started rta's with the KM3. It's what I've gotten used to, and it's just so unique that nothing else is really coming close enough to replace it.
I honestly believe if I'd started with another rta - the K5 or any of the larger ones, I'd be satisfied with the Prime, Ares, Digiflavor, or any of the newer mtl tanks. But I'm becoming convinced that a large part of my issue is that the KM3 chamber/chimney is so narrow, that 22-24mm tanks just can't give that same condensed throat hit. I've built and rebuilt, tried to adjust my pace and style of pulling in the vape, and just can't get used to another tank...none quite satisfy me. Kind of a bummer, because I'd like to take advantage of the size, ease of build, features, etc. of some of the newer tanks, but I'm just too particular. It seems I just keep wasting money on drawer ornaments & givaways.
Sorry to hear that Brewdawg. I did start to think that it may be too large an opening for you based on some of your comments.

Thanks, Cirus - got me all excited, because reviews on the Fasttech didn't look great.
But, sadly, at Gearbest:
upload_2018-1-17_13-32-27.png

3F has a version that looks pretty good, though. LieFeng supposedly makes pretty good stuff. Now if I could only find a replacement center post for the one I broke. Even SvoeMesto doesn't have them listed.

And for a comment back on topic, @ian91 , now that it's reduced, I'm going to try one more time with a 2.5mm coil, to see if it gets me any closer. I really do like the tank and want to make it work, if only in a pinch when I need more capacity.

Does the center post of the authentic fit yours? Originvape and cremedevape has them.

Yes, the shower head diffuser is removable, and threaded. It was easy to remove with pointy tweezers - it wasn't even really tight. I removed it, but that's a very wide port below it. What I'd originally wanted to do was drill out (enlarge) one or two of the smaller air intake holes in the base, but can't figure out how to remove the ring so that I don't get shavings inside. Sent an email to Innokin asking how, but no response.

Removing the shower head helps, but the port is way too large, and loses flavor because of all the air bypassing the coil, even with a 3mm dia coil. I'd inserted part of a cut-off Aspire BVC coil in the port to reduce the Kayfun 5 and it helped a lot. But it's too loose to use in the Ares, and won't press fit.

Ian91- where can I get a Protank grommet to try this?
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on Innokin to reply. On the other hand, Busardo has been very responsive whenever I've emailed him. Hellava nice guy, give him a shot.

Btw, if you´re old (like me) and need reading glasses and you have several cheap ones at home, just stack them up on your nose, normally two are enough for me to get a very descent magnifying for building atomizers ;)
Wow, I never thought of that. I'll give it a try. thanks

After reporting my leaking ARES at the end of last year I got my replacement from Innokin yesterday. Been vaping this for a day now and I´m happy to report that it´s working absolutely flawlessly till now. No leaks, topcap seems to be tight and sealed. Very good vape, quiet, smooth and flavorfull, seems I nailed the wicking with my standard 2,5 mm ID SS 316 28 GA coil, 8 wraps, slightly spaced (I use the "Phil" method, building a contact coil with my coilmaster and then stretching out the coil a bit), comes out around 0.96 ohms. Wicking with standard KGD cotton pads, using the second smalles single air hole. Great great vape, I´m a happy camper now. Kudos to Innokin how they handled that - great customer service.

Got my replacement from innokin today, only been using for a little while, but so far it is staying dry from the top cap, which by now on the old one who would already be seeping, so fingers crossed, my problems are solved.

I did get a black replacement for the black one I had.

Now I just have to hope my 2nd one coming from fasttech is from a good batch too.

Well the replacement one from innokin has no seepage from the top cap, but I can't seem to find the right wick in this one, either to much and get dry hits, or not enough and get leaking, which I didn't have this problem with the 1st one o_O

I did get the other one from fasttech this week, so going to build that one this evening and try that one, figure between the 2 of them I can get one decent no leaking tank.....hopefully, if not, I give up on it, which is a shame, as really do like the vape from it.

Thanks for reminding me about the multiple glasses hack - I'd used it years ago, and totally forgotten. It really does work!

And that's the exact same build I usually use. Tried it again after using the grommet reducer @ian91 suggested, and it's almost there (thanks, Ian!). I tried it this time with one less wrap, and the coil is slightly farther now above the port (the port is lower with the grommet than the shower head), and it's really pretty close- different, but much more satisfying than it was. Flavor is actually a little better than the Mini V3, but vape is not quite as good on TH. Getting close, though. I think if I had a reducer that closed the port just a little more, and compensated w/AF ring, it'd be even better. I've been using both, and will continue to use the Ares, to see if I can get more used to it.

Well, @newyork13 - they did reply...sort of. Unfortunately, they apparently didn't read my email before replying! ;)
I'm guessing they're inundated with warranty requests, and gave me the stock answer, offering to replace it.

    Here's what I sent:

    And here's their reply:

I've replied to George - we'll see if he'll tell me how to remove the airflow ring.

None of those exactly, 52. Since I "restarted" vaping I've gotten a couple of Mini V3's, a Kayfun 5, and a Prime. For Kayfun clones, it seemed everyone recommended a "name brand" clone - SXK, SJMY, Tobeco, and YFTK, pretty much in that order. I got an SXK and YFTK. The YFTK was virtually perfect, and SXK's were great, just very slightly lower quality. On Fasttech & 3F, there were tons of options up until a couple of months ago, and SvoeMesto hit them legally - for a while, everything SM disappeared from their sites. Now only a couple of no name clones are on there, with only 3 reviews each. And I can't find the name brands on a site I like. But I did find a LieFeng version LieFeng KF Mini V3 Silver 2ml 19mm RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer (which I'd never heard of), and found a couple of reviewers liked their clones, so I'll probably order that one. At least they're proud enough of it to list their name.

But be careful - that throat hit will spoil ex-smokers, and you'll end up like me, where nothing else will satisfy you the same!;)

And by the way, after using @ian91's reducer in Ares, 2.5mm 316L-SS, 7 wraps at 0.79 ohm with AF fully open, with the cotton (rather than rayon) broken in, I'm really close. I'm liking it a lot, and kind of getting used to it. I'm mostly using it all day, but occasionally hit the KM3 when I really want the TH. But Ares is really going thru a lot more juice than the Mini3.

There’s a purportedly YFTK version on eBay right now. My Tobeco is a good one. Didn’t have much luck with the no-name clones although others have done ok. The SXK version was supposed to be a good one too.

It’s a tiny deck, so tolerances are really key on the KMv3. I had problems with 2 different “no name” clones where the coil screws were positioned too far out on the positive post.

    Hope this helps.

Anyone have any Ideas on a suitable device (single 18650 battery, VW) that would look good with a 19mm topper sitting on it ?? All my devices are at least 22mm to 25mm's in width. (or point me to a thread ??)

Edit: I don't think that KF mini V3 would look particularly good sitting on top of my Black SVD2. I'm just sayin'.

A setup like this might be a sort of Game Changer yet again for me, who knows.

Oh, I didn't even think of it till someone in another thread mentioned, how much easier it was to wick using KGD pads instead of fighting with getting the correct amount of unrolled cotton ball thru my coils. After I tried KGD, all of a sudden I could wick my coils properly, like magic.
