Yeah, I just came across that article too. I do agree that nicotine shouldn't be made available to minors (even though i believe e-cigs are better than the alternative), but the part that really irks me is -

While companies offering electronic cigarettes contend they don’t promote them for minors, Greg Stanton, director of legislative affairs for the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, said the facts don’t support that claim.
“When you put the flavors on them it is pretty obvious that they are being marketed to minors,” he said.

Like adults would never be interested in drinking soda or eating candy.

Go ahead and try to keep these out of the hands of kids but leave the "marketing toward minors" thing out of it.

Totally agree with you on that.

While most cops aren't going to haul a kid to jail for having anaogs on 'em, they will and DO get cited. My neighbor's son along with his friends were ticketed for having cigs. 4 kids, one 17 yr old and three 16 yr olds...each one of them got a citation to appear in court - their parents were notified at the scene as well (by phone)

I'm 19, and I've been smoking since 15. I agree that these devices should be illegal for minors to possess.

However, most law makers don't care if adults like cotton candy as much as a 15 year old. It's the fact that the sugar-ish flavors could influence more minors wanting them, regardless of a manufactorers intentions to just make something tastey for adults.

I live in Maine, and recently ALL flavored papers, flavored cigarettes, etc were 100% banned to be sold in Maine for this reason. Just because they were intended to be tastey for adults didn't change that it could be more desirable for a 15 year old over a tobacco cigarette. It's the same thing really, I miss the chocolate flavored cigarettes, but at the same time we have to understand that law makers aren't going to look at ethics the same as normal people, as they typically aren't normal.

May I suggest then, respectfully cos I do agree no child should have any tobacco or nic products, that the AG be sent a slightly re-worded version of his own words, in order to pass a bill in regards to alcohol (another age- prohibited substance)

'While companies offering alcoholic beverages contend they don’t promote them for minors, Greg Stanton, director of legislative affairs for the Arizona Attorney General’s Office,(might have) said the facts don’t support that claim.

I totally agree. The e-cigarette companies did not go into business with a scheme to sell e-cigs to minor, it is foolish assumption and a ploy to stop anyone from using nicotine?? What is wrong with these people. We are in a serious plight with the economic recession/depression. Unemployment. Lack of medical resources. Increasing crime etc and the politicians want ot focus on the e-cig industry.:(8-o

Amen, those terrible electronic cigarettes - keeping more money in the people's pockets, lowering health care costs (can't say that) and lowering crime rates (definitely can't say that, but I know I've wanted to commit crimes when I couldn't afford a pack of cigarettes).

It's just easier to fry the small fish and look like the heroes than to take on actual problems.
