I was in a Michaels today (art and craft supply), and there, on an aisle dedicated to cake decorating, were 59ml bottles of a clear liquid identified simply as Glycerine, $2.79 each. Is this vapeable VG?

Also--right next to it--were bottles of something called Clear Butter Flavor ($1.99), the ingredients of which are water, propylene glycol and artificial flavors. Vapeable, do you think? I'm thinking I could use it as a PG dilutant and add a buttery flavor to anything I mix up.

I use those Wilton's flavorings and they have several others...maybe a different Micheal's would carry them?

The only concern I have with the glycerine is that it's not stampted USP. I went to their site and all I saw was Kosher but nothing about USP. I suggest you read this post by a Pharmacist before deciding on whether or not to use it.

I use the butter flavoring from Wiltons and it's good. A little weak for me (surprisingly) but good. Is there something I need to know? It lists the ingredients as water, PG and artificial flavoring. I read a thread here that stated they don't use diacetyl.

The water/PG ratio isn't listed, of course. So far, looks like more water than PG: I've been vaping a banana cream/butter flavored PG creation at 6V and the vapor is only so-so.

Thanks GoodDog for that link! He says

"So any Glycerin, USP labeled in any of the above mentioned Pharmacy labels (Humco, Family Pharmacy, Good Neighbor Pharmacy, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreen's and Walmart labels) IS USP grade AND Vegetable sourced."

I saw that Glycerine at Walmart and looked the bottle over carefully and couldn't find the word "vegetable" anywhere. Now I know i CAN use it:)

Walmart is not vegetable, if it was it would say so. It is called "manufactured", which is a kind way of saying they don't want to say what's in it or how it's made. I have a bottle never opened that I will use for softening cane for a chair seat, if that gives you any idea.
Yes, it probably would be ok, but I want to know I'm vaping pure vegetable glycerine, distilled from plant sources. That's why I use ECOpure VG. (cignot.com) I think it's the best grade, it already contains deionized water, so no need to thin in most cases, made to USP standards. Always consistant to specs.
But any generic VegetableGlycerine which is marked, and USP grade is ok to use for vapor, you may need to thin with distilled water.

That's the word I couldn't come up with. If it doesn't contain it, it should be fine as well.

Kate51,

Did you read the info at the link provided above? From that link I quote (SmokeyJoe himself)
I did personally speak to the Quality Assurance person at Humco, Inc. Humco contract packages (meaning, places their manufactured product into other company's labeled bottles) for almost every major pharmacy label in the country.
From their company information they contract package for the following:

Among our wholesale customers are McKesson Healthcare Solutions, Cardinal Health and AmerisourceBergen(which is the Family Phamacy and Good Neighbor Pharmacy labels) along with most regional wholesalers. In addition, Humco supplies products to Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid and Wal-Mart.
