Has anyone heard of this? I placed the order with JV and got an e-mail from them saying that they could not verify my age and they want me to send them a photocopy of my ID. I have been ordering online for longer than I care to remember and I have never heard of something like this. I mean, it kind of sounds like a scam when somebody online asks you to send them your SS#, password, picture ID, etc. It does not seem like a safe thing to do. Is this for real? Thanks.

Resolved.

I just talked to them. They said they started doing it this year for anybody who is a first time buyer. Why? To set an industry standard and to encourage other vendors to do it, so that there is no problems with the underage kids buying it. In any case, he said he could hear over the phone that I am not 16 and that my order will ship today.

If i were you I would get in touch of the BBB and report the business providing them the email that they have sent you asking for your SS# and ID. those 2 information should never be provided together unless at a bank or buying a car, house, or just any liquid assets
They have not asked for the SS#. In any case, it has been resolved.

P.S. I had no idea about that other stuff.

I thought using a credit card in your own name verifies you're over 18. I ordered cigars online from a reputable place without having to send photocopied ID. If online tobacco vendors don't need to do that what makes JV think they need to set a precedence for ecig suppliers to do that?

I think that they are trying to stay ahead of what the FDA and other laws that may be adopted if the ANTZ get their way.
