I have a question about my USB pass-thru, if anyone could please help. I'd like to be able to use my pass-thru when I'm not near my laptop, but I did not see a USB to wall outlet adapter on the V4L website. Can I use any USB to wall adapter? I have an generic one that I bought as an extra for my ipod, and probably have others lying around as well from some electronic device or other.

Is it safe, or will they fry my battery?

Hi izabella,

Any 5v 2 Amp USb adapter will work with your PT. So read the output ratings of your adapters first, they should be listed. It might say 2,000ma or 2A. You may want to look into to buying a 12v USb Adapter for your car as well. If you are looking for a 12v USB Adapter with 2 or more ports (additional for a laptop or cellphone) try Radio Shack.

Hope that helps.....:2cool:

I was just at Radio Shack the other day, they'll have everything you'll need in the store.

One other thing to note: If you are using an Auto PT NEVER leave it plugged in and unattended for long periods of time...they have been known to short and will literally heat up the carto to a burning stage. It doesn't happen often, but it has happened so don't take any chances by leaving it plugged in overnight.

Eeek! Thank you for the warning! It's a manual PT, and because I do not use it a lot, I haven't been leaving it plugged in if I'm not using it. I'm still in the experimental stages...wireless vs PT....auto vs manual...flavors, flavors, flavors!

I am a little concerned whether the PT will have any bad effects on my laptop, though I am not sure why it would. But that is another reason I want to get the wall charger.

Better safe than sorry.

...I am VERY guilty of doing this. I will heed this great warning Snow. Never thought about it. I leave mine plugged in all the time!
