Quoting myself for sadness.... No deliveries today and one package is on a tour of the USA according to USPS tracking.. Arrived in California (it's destination), then for some reason it left and arrived in Texas, left Texas and now it's in St. Louis..

Thanks USPS :-( :-(

Maybe tomorrow I can turn my frown upside down.. LOL

:( :( damn 10 characters.

kayfun US tour 2013.... USPS is as bad as Canada Post, if that's even possible!

The package on the tour of the US is just some batteries, wick and wire..

The package with my 3rd Diver and an SnP tank has been taking a nap in Goleta, CA.. I have never seen a package go to that city before when en route to me..

USPS makes me sad...

On a bright note, the package on a tour of the US has departed St. Louis.... LOL

Got my first Diver in today. No problem setting it up, no leaks to speak of. VTF is very good on it. Draw is tighter than I like but tolerable. Only downside I see so far is I can not chain vape it. I get 3-4 really good flavorful draws and then it gets dry. I have to let it sit for a bit or dry pull several times and then good to go again. Probably something with my setup but not bad at all for first attempt.

Still beats the heck of out of a carto. I am using it in my Prive Special but I had the flange taken off of it in a lathe.

Great idea shaving the flange off.

If you are getting dry hits maybe your wick is too thick. Oh that just sounds so wrong. or you've wrapped your coil too tight or your juice is too thick. Oh there I go again.

At least Diver # 3 is in the correct State.... For now! Why USPS why?

Job security :)

Ok so today I ran a little test.. I have 5ea pre-made ready cups and I was curious as to why some are getting leaks and others are not..

I have 2 Divers.. One has been in my tank with the same cup since it arrived and it's leak free!

My 2nd Diver was purchased for use with the Grail (love it by the way) but wanted to test it out in my tank to see if it leaked..

Yup! Leak, leak, leak... And I am not talking a little here, it leaked worse than an old Russian submarine!

Ok.. A little investigation and I find the bottom pin does not fit as snug as it does in my 1st Diver cup that has been leak free.. I assume it's the cup so I grab a pre-made cup and again it feels loose. Load it up and leak, leak, leak...

Crud! 2 cups that are pretty much DOA..

Okie dokie.. Grab a 3rd pre-made cup and on this one the pin sits nice and tight like the cup on my 1st Diver does.. Bingo! Not a single drop!

Now I am curious and test out the rest of my pre-made cups.. One is loose and leaks the other is tight and dose not!

The moral of this story is that all cups are NOT created equal...

Of my 5 pre-made cups only 2 do not leak..

This does irritate me a little as they are not cheap and it's a basic roll of the dice..

My suggestion is that if you have leaks to try a different cup!

Yes.. I had a total of 7 pre-made cups. 1ea that came with my Divers and a 5 pack of ready made.. Of the 7 cups total I have 3 that do not leak..

As a side note for others following this.. With the leaky cups I also tired filling the tank with the air hole outside the tank.. No dice, it still leaked..

I don't know if this is conclusive but I fully believe it's the cups that cause leaking. If the bottom post has a loose fit you are going to leak, end of story.. If it's a tight fit then you are probably good to go..

3 working cups out of 7 is not good odds / numbers but I love the Diver so all is good...

I am 500% positive it's the cups because the cup was the only variable that changed in my experiment... I only tired 7 cups so more testing may be needed..

More testing is definitely needed.. All I can say is that if you have a leaky setup, try a different cup.. What I noticed is that on the ones that do not leak the pin was a very tight fit and I had to use a lot of pressure to get it seated..

The base of the Diver?

I think the Diver is solid.. The cups (manufacturing differences in the cups) appear to be the culprit..

I used the same base, the same Diver and the same pin for all the cups. The only thing that changed between leaking and not leaking was the cups.. More importantly was how tight the pin seated into the bottom of the cup..

Sorry for quoting myself but a bit of an update to my original findings.

My 3rd Diver arrived and the 1st cup I used was a loose fit with the pin and it did leak. Grab another cup and the pin was a tight fit into the cup. I mean real tight! Not a single drop after a full tank..

Also, I do believe that the leaks are also cause during filling. The cup I used that didn't leak was fine through the 1st tank. And that tank was filled with a carto tool. When the tank ran dry I decided to fill up leaving the Diver in place since my SnP tank has the easy filling ports on top. Now the SnP is suppose to allow air to escape out of the 2nd hole while filling, thus not flooding the Diver.

Nope! I filled via the SnP top fill port and leak, leak, leak.... Removed all the juice, then the Diver sit for a few and refilled using the carto tool and the Diver air hole outside of the tank.. BINGO! No leaks, not even a drop!

So my conclusion is:

A) The pin must seat tightly into the ceramic cup. If it does not you will leak.
B) When filling, the Diver air hole should be outside of the tank.

I am NOT putting down the Diver, heck I have 3 of them now. I absolutely love the thing!

Maybe this will help some who are having leaks. When I have a tight fitting pin and I fill with the air hole outside of the tank I get zero leaks, not even a micro of a drop..

You guys were right about all cups are not made equal which is a real PITA. I had a cup and pin that were tight. No leaking at all. When I went to rebuild I couldn't get the pin or the cup out. I ended up breaking the cup and still the pin wouldn't come out. I used a hooked paper clip on it for a good hour before I finally got the damn thing out. I need a cup and pin puller.

I find that the tighter the fit, the better!

For the pin and cup that is... LOL

I have been going out of my way to test all this out and I think I have nailed getting a non leaking Diver down!

Now I test the pin and cup before I even bother going any further. If the pin starts getting real tight about halfway into the cup I know I have a good fit!

From here on out I will fill the tank with the air hole outside and vape away leak free!

I use a chopstick saved from some takeout to press the pin out. If its really stuck in there, put the diver base on top of a drip tip and press out.

After the pin is out, the cup should twist out on its own, even with the tail of neg wire wedged between the cup and base.

hmm. I was thinking he was pushing the pin through, from the top of the ceramic(that is stuck in the base) with a chopsticky that fits inside the creamic.

Maybe I'm tired. sorry

I dont know if that would work or not. If it doesn't push the pin out then the cup will be even more stuck.
