I've tried varying lengths of the wick, and the airhole is always equal distance from both wicks
I had the same problem until I found out I was filling it wrong. Be sure the juice hole is sticking out of the bottom of the tank when you fill. Try filling just half way then slide the Diver the rest of the way into the tank. So far mine has been wicking good now. It does still flood a bit when it sits for very long but a couple of drags clears that up.
I pre measure my kanthal resistance wire prior to making a coil. For mechs, I use between 1" to 1-1/4" of kanthal, which will yield me between 1 ohm to 1.5 ohms. For my regulated mods, I use about 2" of kanthal, which yields some 2.5 ohms of resistance.
I don't worry about the number of wraps, as the different wicking materials and combinations will change that from coil to coil. I focus on the desired amount of resistance that I want, which is dictated by the length of resistance wire used.

I don't know if you can see the scratches on the flange there, but those scratches are my feed hole marker.

I think your wicks my be a bit too long. Try trimming them flush with the threads of the base.
Hrmm, I thought they were, but maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean. In the first picture, if I fold them down, they are just to the threads.
