I wanted a clone - I knew things - vendors heard me ..... about things - got samples and confirmed things - things got fixed - we get better devices = everyone is happier and now we are at Disneyland "The happiest Place on earth" vape on

This is not a trivial matter and they have likely done this to be protected from people using their brand (trademark) to capitalize on their original idea. This is something that anyone who wants to do business in the US needs to acknowledge. There is no secret about this, you can look it up and read about it. At the same time, you have to defend this trademark or you will lose it (read up on trademarks to better understand why they exist). So Hana Modz have filed the trademark and they must enforce it if they want to keep it. I do not know whether or not they will do that, but they certainly have the right to do so. If you actually look this stuff up, you will find that changing the name from Hana Modz to Cana Modz won't protect you from litigation. If Hana Modz decides to sue, they will win against the vendors (I'm pretty sure about that). Obviously, the folks who purchased and received the mods won't be prosecuted, but the vendors could face significant damages.

You've been looking as some of the same stuff as I....your comments are spot-on.....patent pending is another term that comes to mind....and protection under US laws matters.....

Easy way to solve all this.

Dont put Hana on anything. The box, screen, stickers inside etc etc

Change the box layout a little. It's just a box..

And maybe to protect against evolv change the screen layout a bit

Perhaps im not to bright... and once again, this is speculation... hana modz has had a difficult time keeping up with demand for their product. Have you ever thought that perhaps they ended up deciding to license out and offshore their product. Perhaps that is why the name "hana modz" is set in the chip rom and on the warranty stickers. I'm not sure why they wouldn't have the logo on the device. All I can say is that there is a very high probability that they have been monitoring this thread and are fully aware that there is a clone in production (now shipping) and still have not taken ANY legal action taken. At this point, logic tells me that they had some role to play in all of this. How small or large is unknown, but I'm sure they are making more money now than they were just making the devices themselves.

Based on how popular the device is. My rccomendation to them is to continue to focus their efforts on R&D/engineering of new devices and vaping methods (which they are obviously very good at) and produce those developments over seas. If they did have a part to play in this... then kudos to them.
