Hana Modz have filed for trademark protection. This is not a trivial matter and they have likely done this to be protected from people using their brand (trademark) to capitalize on their original idea. This is something that anyone who wants to do business in the US needs to acknowledge. There is no secret about this, you can look it up and read about it. At the same time, you have to defend this trademark or you will lose it (read up on trademarks to better understand why they exist). So Hana Modz have filed the trademark and they must enforce it if they want to keep it. I do not know whether or not they will do that, but they certainly have the right to do so. If you actually look this stuff up, you will find that changing the name from Hana Modz to Cana Modz won't protect you from litigation. If Hana Modz decides to sue, they will win against the vendors (I'm pretty sure about that). Obviously, the folks who purchased and received the mods won't be prosecuted, but the vendors could face significant damages.
