Silver solder? Any particular kind? What kind and gauge of wire is really good quality to use?

How much depends on how much silver you want added to the solder. But for these mods the silver solder you can buy at places like Fry's Electronics for about $5 will do. It's a little more conductive than standard solder but is also a little harder to work with because the melting point is higher.

As far as the gauge wire, I THINK these mods use an 18 gauge wire which would be similar gauge to stock speaker wire in your average car.

If the wire can fit through the holes on the PCB I would change to a 14 gauge pure copper wire. Partially because I have about 100 feet of it already, conveniently in blue/blue w/white stripe which would match my blue clone.

you know what would be nice that i haven't seen yet on youtube or any where else... a step by step video on how to solder and install a dna 30 chip using the hana modz box from start to finish. there is a video on how to wire it and what to solder but he doesn't get in depth (basically just shows him soldering from far away so u cant even tell what he's wiring to) and just skipped the part with the buttons and 510 and installing it in a box.

If my mod fails after it's out of warranty I may make one showing what parts I used, how to route and secure the wires so they aren't a tangled mess, and how to mount the chip so it's free from any epoxy.

I've never had any problems using regular good quality rosin cored solder.

Neither would anyone else.

I prefer the silver because I'm really .... about electronics. The slightly lower resistance is worth it to me. In these mods it may not make any difference at all, but in a 1700 watt car stereo it can make the difference between dead silence or a slight hiss in between songs.

If I rebuild it, I'm not going to do it "just as good as Hana Modz", I'm going to do it BETTER.

That's fair enough - I just wing it nine times out of ten.

Let me just say if you've never owned a Billet Box they are the epitome of craftsmanship and a work of art. I can only imagine how the cloners are going to screw them up.

Royally I would imagine.
I found out today that the Provari clone is a 33.3hz mod - about as far from the quality and intent of the original as you could go.

Considering all that COULD go wrong, it not engineered properly, I envision some GREAT threads on the subject.

After mucho time editing, rendering, and uploading. The sound is kind of quiet, but it will get better in future vids as my process improves :)

Thanks for the Vid :) One question, is the resistance reading accurate.
