I just got my Kayfun Mini clone from fasttech yesterday, gave it a hot water + soap soak and scrub, an alcohol soak, and another hot water rinse. No machine oil taste left on it at all, but I don't think there was that much to begin with even though I could kind of smell it before I cleaned it. I'm vaping it right now and I'm enjoying it a lot. Kayfuns have always been my favorite types of tanks as a MTL vaper. But I am not so great at building, so I'm still trying to figure out the best coil configuration and wicking. I'm not getting that popping (that I like) but it hits pretty decent. But how can I make it better?

Using 27 gauge kanthal, about 7 wraps can't remember, comes out to 1.45 ohms, although I was aiming for lower but I usually just wing the build and adjust. I'm using KGD and 50/50 liquid. I know this has probably been answered a million times, but how tight exactly should the wick be? I know it's suppose to be snug but not too tight, but how snug exactly? I've tried varying "tightness" and I can't figure out which is best. And should the wicks fill the entire juice channel or should it be more sparse so it doesn't cover up the entire juice hole? Should it touch the bottom of the juice channel or just hang above it slightly? And how do you remove the deck without dumping out the juice? I tried doing that earlier and the chimney and glass came off but the tank was already empty so I didn't waste any juice.

How big is your coil? (inside diameter). Maybe try some thinner wire?

You have to make sure the tank section a little tighter so that doesn't happen again. When you want to remove the base, hold it by the metal just above it and unscrew carefully.

They said, in Greek like Exxhancer said,

[So, here is a shot with 1.5 turns each.] Το Plus είναι ακριβώς λείπει η μεγαλύτερη κενό από πάνω, όπου ο θάλαμος συρρικνώνεται κάτω από την καμινάδα. [The Plus is specifically lacking the largest gap from above, wherein the chamber shrinks below the chimney.] Αν ήταν το ίδιο ύψος, η χωρητικότητα θα μπορούσε να είναι κατά πάσα πιθανότητα περίπου 1 ml περισσότερο? [If they were the same height, the capacity could probably be approximately 1 ml more;]

I'm getting great flavor on the Tobeco clone. 28 ga. SS316L on a 2.5 mm rod, .84 ohm. Think it ended up around 8 wraps (spaced). I used Japanese organic cotton for the wick. Using TCR = 92 on an Evic VTC Mini.
...

I used the following video as a guide:

The wicking starts about 25 minutes into the vid. He uses rayon, though. (I'd like to try rayon, but I can't bring myself to spend $17 for a box that could last me several lifetimes - just so I can try it.)

As noted above I used Japanese organic cotton for wicking. I make it so the tips of the cotton touch the deck, keeping the side slots clear and ending up with fluffy, rounded shoulders just to the side of the coils. I usually follow the Busardo method regarding the tightness of the cotton in the coil. I try to get it tight but not too tight - just tight enough that when I pull/slide the cotton back and forth in the coil a slight shoulder forms on each side of the coil.

After I cut the cotton wick, I use a sewing pin to fluff and thin the ends of the cotton a little. The thinning is really a byproduct the fluffing process; I gently stick the pin into the cotton and gently pull it outwards multiple times, which pulls out some of the cotton strands. I then cut the wick flat and fold it into the chamber as per the video. I use a sharp pair of tweezers to fold the cotton into the chamber.

Hope this helps. It's just the way I do it and everyone has their own theories and preferences.

If I can wick it...anybody can wick it..
Still on a 2mm 28g .. wicked just enough not to move the coil and cut at a 45 degree, so the longest tail is just tapping on the deck and the shorts just tuck into the top after juicing it up..smash the rest against the positive block side and clear of the front juice holes..and nothing on top of block or around air hole.
I think it is very forgiving on amount of wick as long as it's not over stuffed like my first try.

Interesting. I usually cut in an opposite angle if anything, so that as many tips as possible barely touch the deck.

I'll try it your way the next time. I'll probably eventually try a 2 mm coil too; a 2.5 mm coil holds a lot of wick - which may not be necessary in this tank.

Are you using TC or Power mode?

which one is the best for now...I heard tobeco is not best machined.

3f I have and is good but not best 1:1.

sxk is good what I heard but comes with plastic spare tank which it is not issue for me when I can get glass tank fo 1$ :D and it comes with nice package and screwdriver and beauty ring.

fasttech 316 and 304 are what I heard simillar quality as 3F version.

others I don't know.

Can you tell me your opinions?
Is sxk best? or which one is?

thanks :D

I am also using 27 gauge Kanthal.

I use 8 wraps of this wire around a 7/64" (2.8mm) drill bit in order to get a 1.25 ohm coil. I keep the coils touching each other (not spaced).

I mention this because you were looking to get a slightly lower ohm coil than the 1.45 ohm your using now.

I tried using a coil with the inside diameter close to 3mm and it was ok. Went back to a 2.5mm one and it is a lot better. (started these with 2.5mm). I wonder how a 2mm one work? Anyone using a coil that small on theirs?
No, but I can say I too have better results in it with smaller than 3mm, 2.6mm to be exact. I bet it'd work good if u can wick it right....such a small strand wd b hard to wick no?
