"Adam Rudolph" didn't do much to help the cause. He said:
"1- I understand and fully approve of the restriction of ecigarettes to minors. These things are a nicotine delivery system and as such should only be used by adults.

2- I Disapprove of a full ban of these products. Adults have the right to make up their own minds about the use of nicotine in their lives. A delivery system which is a cheap alternative, containing thousands less harmful chemicals than cigarettes should be an option for adults. Promoting this bill will make many who have switched to the electronic version return to cigarettes. This bill will cost lives. PLEASE DO A PROPER STUDY and you will see that this is a safe alternative.

3- Force the FDA to regulate the liquid. I am all for restrictions on purity and quality. Tax it."

I think the point of the bill is to ban it only until the FDA starts regulating it. I'm assuming he's not an ECF member but I just wanted to make sure no one else here would include that kind of thing in their comments.

BTW: I sent emails but the only responses I got were autoresponders.

soooo, how did it go? i wasnt able to make it out do to lack of gas.

Classic, it was not on today's Health Committee meeting agenda. I did post that in several threads, but if in the near future you want to be informed by email and/or PM about when it is put on the agenda, and you want to try to make it to Albany, please PM me your details.

Please also onsider contacting your Senator, and asking for a meeting locally!

I would like to know if there's any meetings held locally in WNY. I live just outside Buffalo and have been very busy, so driving to Albany for a meeting probably isn't going to happen.

This is all so UNFAIR! They all know it is less harmful!! They just dont want to hear it cause they are voting the way it makes them better off. NOT WE the people!

Krythis, please then, could you look up who is your State Senator? Antoine Thompson is from Buffalo, and he is on the Senate Health Committee. Contact info as follows:

Antoine M. Thompson (D)
District Office
Walter J. Mahoney State Office Building
65 Court Street, Room 213
Buffalo, New York 14202
P: 716-854-8705
F: 716-854-3051

Even if he is not your Senator, it would still be worth a try to get a meeting with him in Buffalo. I have been trying to get an appointment with him in Albany next week, still without success as of yet. Most Senators are at their district offices on Thursdays and Fridays.

Recently, my roommate spoke with a friend who has worked with the CDC's Office of Tobacco and Health. She was thrilled that I had switched to the e-cig.... and she is an adamant non-smoker. Here's the big BUT: according to her, the CDC recognizes the advantages of the electronic cigarette as a reduced-harm product... "but they will never publicly endorse the e-cig as it is considered a "drug/nicotine delivery device." They have adopted an all or nothing approach. Interesting.

I don't care so much whether they actively endorse it. It makes sense that the CDC might not want to buck the FDA (though i wish they would) but at least they're not actively trying to ban e-cigs. The groups that know there's more to it than the FDA's misinterpretations and are STILL trying to get them banned are the ones that make me crazy.

Agreed! She had only positive things to say about the e-cig and says it's a fairly general consensus amongst her colleagues.

All the NY Senators on the Health Committee who need to be contacted now are included in the email prepared for sending that you can get to from the link on the first page of this thread. And here is the Health Committee page, where you can click on the names of all 17 members if you want to call or fax or send snail mail:

Health | New York State Senate

Matterofactually I did send faxes and E-Mails out on 3 separate occasions...

 Will send more out on my weekend overnight shift so they will receive my Rambo-Faxes first thing Monday morning

Keep up the pressure people, Great job to everyone.
I sent the letter. I don't live in NY, but I've supported every state ban attempt I've been made aware of. They need to know the masses are watching, listening and not happy with all that is going on. Strength in numbers!

PLEASE! don't stop! The emails, letters and posts you make may seem superfluous, but they DO have a difference to the "count" in Washington and particularly among state and local leaders. Your email posts HAVE to be tallied. Don't think that just because a certain politician doesn't read email that your post is ignored.

I know you understand what you think we said but I'm not sure you've realized that what you heard may not have been what we meant...

If you look for sense in government response, you're seeking validation in insanity.

Robin Williams once said, "...if you look up "redundance" in the dictionary, it says, "see redundance"

Number DO count - keep standing up people ~
