Using these devices attracts a lot of attention, but what I hear most from people is this "Ohhh I know loads of people who gave up using them"

I wonder if there aren't many who use these products as a direct alternative to cigarettes. I met a few who use them around work and they have this exact plan "I'm going down gradually, all the way to 0."

I haven't yet considered the possibility of quitting, that is, to stop feeding my body with nicotine. I use these products because they appear to hurt me a lot less than cigarettes, and to me, they are equally as satisfying.

I also think the idea that you gradually go down in strengths is completely absurd. If you want to cull your addiction to nicotine, you stop putting it into your body.

Ultimately I think it's just that it seems EVERYONE thinks they are a cessation device, that really didn't occur to me when I witnessed dudes blowing volcanos of smoke out of these things.

#1, it is a cessation device if you choose.
#2, it's not smoke.
Really it's about personal preference. Something to ponder, there are about 6 billion people alive right now. Of those 6 billion people, not one is exactly like another. Think about all the different personalities there are and the VAST diverse attitudes that result.

The comment I dislike the most is when people say the only way to quit is cold turkey. I vape mostly 6mg and a few 0mg if I'm going to vape for more than 20-30 minutes. Different strokes for different folks.

I see we posted at same time. So to stick with the theme of "old" sayings- great minds think alike:)

That statement is the same as saying, if you want to quit smoking cigarettes, quit cold turkey.

For some(like myself), without a bit of nicotine in my system I was on edge, stressed out, couldn't sleep, and just was always grouchy. I have started to cut back on my nicotine and my bodies desire for it has decreased a lot. I can tell a difference of when I was at a higher nicotine versus now. Especially when I try to vape my old liquids and get almost an instant headache if I try and vape it like I do my 5mg stuff.

The one I hear the most and gets me frustrated is "so you haven't really quit smoking yet huh?" SOOO annoying!

This bit........I know lots of people who didnt put the effort into finding a "real one" (no I dont consider disposables real, or blu's or anything "m-... but renamed like it's different" IMO) so they gave up. Ecigs didnt fail them..they failed themselves by not giving it a serious chance.
Life and ecigs does take a bit of effort on the users part.

It's like saying you cant lose weight because a gas station homeopathy weight loss pill taken 1/5th the recommend amount of time, didnt drop 30 pounds from your bum. While you didnt work out, or even look up how to eat healthier. Yup clearly, your just doomed to being chubby and it's all that pills fault!

I don't have desire to quit, nor do I have a problem with doing so. If vaping 0-nicotine would produce the same direct sensation from inhaling, I'd use 0, but it just doesn't produce that slight lung collapsing sensation I enjoy. I've been vaping for 9-months, and I didn't need to pick up vaporizing nicotine to quit smoking cigarettes. I also have only dropped down from 24mg/mL-18mg/mL only for the reason to chain vape more frequently.

Just enjoy life, and don't think so hard about it.

As you say, switching to vaping is good for your health.

After you switch, it's up to you. There's no need to be all or nothing about it; it shouldn't be a choice between going cold turkey or keeping on as usual, though both options are fine. I'd like to reduce my reliance on nicotine eventually, but I'm also very happy with where I am--no ciggies for nearly three months now, after nearly a decade of smoking. Just started making my own juice, and made a couple of diff batches of 12 mg juice, down from the 18 mg I had been buying. I'll see if that works for me. If not, then maybe I'll try 16 mg. The cool thing is that I feel very much in control. This is very, very diff from what patches/gum/Welbutrin felt like. There I felt like a victim.

I started vapping so that I wouldn't have to quit anything!!! except bad health practices. I enjoy inhalation of cloudy flumes that deliver taste, satisfaction and nicotine. True I tend to get over nicked now that I have my Provari, can't inhale as much as I'd like without feeling woozy. So next batch of juice I'm dialing it down to 18mg.

An ex-smoker guest at work asked "why don't you just quit totally?" Replied, "Mary, I don't smoke analogs, I Vape Digitals!!, Besides, no one likes a quitter!!" She didn't understand, or have a proper come back. Totally confused & clueless.

I agree w/this 100%! I usually reply to that "Ya, well I guess I'm weak cuz I tried that a gazillion times and it didn't work along w/Zyban, Nic gum, Smoke Away, the patch...." I think the ultimate goal for all is to just quit. When someone is chewing Nic Gum, do people criticize and say oh, only way is cold turkey.....

I'm tempted to reply with, "Quit? Why quit? I like to vape. It's not smoking and not unhealthy."

I have known one or two people in my lifetime who have been able to just drop the cigarettes and walk away -- and stay away! Too many come back after a month or even a year. Not me -- couple of hours and it is nic fit time! I vaped and got off the coffin nails. That's all I wanted to do. Enthused and proud of myself! I can control the nic level depending on what the old body wants. 24mg in the AM, 18mg the rest of the day. If I ever get down to zero nic that is OK, but I'm not concerned about it!

I vape because I enjoy it, and it made it easier to stop smoking. I picked up a Blu Started Kit when I first got into vaping and after a few months, went back to smoking because it simply wasn't any better and their flavors are horrid, IMO. When I learned about juices, I grabbed a few flavors, started vaping more and stopped smoking the same day. I'm not addicted to vaping, but I enjoy it.

I never smoked more than a pack a day simply because it dried my throat out horribly, so I started with 12 mg juice - never went higher or lower, but my goal is to drop down gradually. This doesn't mean I'll stop vaping, it just means I'll be vaping more for flavor than for nicotine. Once my supplies get here, I plan on going from 12 to 10 to 8. Taking a few baby steps just to prevent headaches that come from taking any sort of chemical out of your body (caffeine is the worst).

I've spent too much money on mods and tanks to just give up vaping :).
