when to stop vaping-not an easy quistion

One of the first thing I noticed when starting to vape, was that I haven’t got a clue as when its time to put down my e-cig, and continue on with my daily tasks.

As for cigarets, this process was very easy, since you have several markers that tell you finished your cigarette, and its time to move on:

1-the cigarette ends.
2-you stop enjoying the puffs.
3-each extra puff became more bitter/discussing.
4-your mouth runs dry.
5-you feel satisfied, and don’t want to smoke more at this time on.

With vaping, non of these symptoms exhibit, since it doesn't physically shorten with each drag, you enjoy almost equally every sweet puff, thus no bitterness or trashy smell in your mouth.
Your mouth doesn’t run dry, unless you PGing your self to death.
You don’t get that ominous feeling of satisfaction, rather more just a decreased desire to vape further more.

The reason for all that is mainly because cigarette smoke is highly toxic to your body, thus you have 2 basic instincts :
1-smoke-and feed the nicotine addiction.
2-stop smoking because its an overall unpleasant act to your body (bad smel.dry mouth, cough, tongue bite ect).

So when the instincts to stop are greater than you nicotine craving that has just been resorted, you throw away the cig, as far as you can from you, and are left only with the disguises taste in your mouth.

e-cigs don’t do all that, and thus lots of us are wondering-where is the stopping point? Should there even be one? Is it the amount of vapes I take? The type of juice and equipment im using? And what if its delightful and I want to chain vape for a whole movie?

the answer is simple-
as a beginner-vape all you want, because you will try to achieve the same unachievable sensation that you hade as a smoker, so don’t limit your vape.
After a couple of days you are going to see the real difference, and suddenly after a long vape, you will experience similar symptoms of those associated with "im done here" as would occur from regular analog use.

So at the bottom line-if your targeting sensation as a indicator to when your inhaling secession is done, it wont be affective, since you cant recreate that sensation, and thus find your self chain vaping for a few days.

So I recommend for those few days ,till your body fully regards vaping a smoking, to vape like you feel like, with out being afraid of "over vaping", because believing in over vaping, might trigger analog use to fulfill that gap in you're feelings created by the smoke-vape-brain mismatch.

Good points! But I'd like to point out that it is completely possible to over-do it when vaping. If you start getting headaches, heart palpatations or a fluttering pulse you're likely on your way to a nicotine overdose. Be very careful to be aware of these symptoms, and if you wish to chain vape make sure you're using a lower nicotine level juice.

Very interesting thread. In the beginning I did what you're saying. I kept vaping till my head hurt (not smart to do) but for me at least part of the learning curve. I've since gotten into a much better pace. I am what I consider an all-day, constant vapor. I have it with me all the time but instead of looking for the magic number (on cigs it was 10-12 hits per smoke) I just take a couple tasty hits every 10 minutes or so. If I want more I take more, if I don't think about it and go longer in-between I do that too. When I am in the "chain vaping" mood, I limit the number of hits to about 10-15 or 20 and then force a break to let the nicotine catch up (as stated earlier, it does take longer to get the nicotine in your system with vaping vs. smoking). Some folks keep lower nic juice around so they can chain vape without risk of over nic'ing.

I'm 3 months into this and I'm still waiting for that "time to take a break" feeling. Until that happens, I happily chain-vape away.... :)

When you reach the point where the effort to drip again doesn't feel worth it, then you're done for now.

I had the same issue in the beginning, when do I stop? ... then I started dripping. Drip 3 drops, vape till you taste a loss of vapor and stop. Rinse repeat if you need a fix, but for the most part, I drip 3-4 drops while I'm on my "smoke break" at work and that seems to be about the same time my coworkers finish their analogs. If I want a little more, I drip another 1-2 drops and I'm good.

It worked for me, but of course...YMMV.

A year into it, and I still sort of treat it like a cig. I take little vaping breaks throughout the day. It is nice having the flexibility to make breaks a little shorter or longer than I would have been committed to with a cig (usually a little longer :) ), but overall it's still similar. Of course, having my PV in my pocket all the time, I grab random puffs constantly between breaks, so in the end I am vaping more than I smoked. Still, I like keeping my little routines.
It seems like, more than nicotine or anything else, that's why I was so reluctant to quit smoking (before I tried vaping) - I didn't want to lose my routines. Happily, it turns out I didn't have to.

This is what happened to me exactly. For me, Dripping is a tedious thing to do and keep doing. However, it became a process that starts and, eventually, ends the vaping.
I did it trying to see what difference it has on flavor. Limiting vaping time was an extra unexpected bonus :)

i never had a problem knowing when to stop vaping. i'm not a fan of dripping but this does sound like the easiest, most logical solution.

DC2 - what's up! i'm from san diego, too. i'm a big fan of the padres and chargers and i want batteries like those in your avatar. did you customize those yourself? or are they stickers? snap! i need to google that right quick...

I considered driping as a pain in the A**.:evil:
and this makes me understand why God created an A** for us vapers anyway! :p

WEll, I have been off cigs for 6 weeks now, smoke 2 packs of camel for almost 30 years. I agree on the "vape as much as you want in the beginning, but I am having trouble reducing my nic contents...., as I also want to gradually phase out vaping at some time. but every time I reduce the nic from 18 to 9, I am getting nervous and once I gt my 18mg hits, I am fine...

TYT falke .. reducing nic level will come when the time is right for you .. it took me 4-5 months to do that .. I started with 24 and I managed to lower it to 12 .. so don't worry about that .. and do not forget .. different people have different abilities to do that .. do it at your own pace :)
