Look at the coil (use magnifying glass) it is most likely fractured. When dry it makes contact and charge flows and coil fires. When wet, juice will impead flow and current is weak. This will allow it to produce some vapor but it will be light. I have had an atty do that and I pinched it together (gently) with tweezers. I hope this helps if not I am stumped.

thats 2 attys in a month

rege - I know its tough to lose an atty but look at it as a consumable. Even at $10 each that is only $5 bucks a week and less than half a pack of smokes up here in NY. Plus now you get to place an order and get some cool stuff. Best of luck Man.

+1

Also, ... there are at least 2 reasons atties fail like that.... my guesses here....

1) Coil is breaking. This happens because they get too hot/dry. Sometimes it's one of two coils inside.
2) Electrical connection - this is the connection leading to the coil. Sometimes the center connector twists as it's screwed on/off - wearing on an internal wire. Also, it can indent. If you only get a so-so connection, you get so-so performance even though the coil glows.

Anyway - Cleaning them keeps them working well enough to not get over-heated, assuming you let em rest a few seconds once in a while. Ensure that you have the correct ohm rating for your setup.

Don't over torque em.

Just some thoughts to keep those atties running! Good luck.
