Auto Cleaning Frequency

constantly blinking light and a crackling noise from the battery, I believe. The only times I've seen that I thought the cig was self-destructing and yanked the battery out.
Might let it do it's thing next time

wow so in the end how?to know auto cleaning finish?
it doesnt take very long to finish Devil...when the battery stops flashing quickly and the hissing stops,its finished.
in the first place I don;t even know and when it auto cleanif I saw flashing and vapour dam less I will changed new battery

the battery usually flashes more quickly than for the battery change indication...and you should hear a hissing noise as it cleans itself...and it will taste bad for awhile afterwards...but it probably wont happen to yours yet.
anyway,its no big deal,nothing to worry about,its perfectly natural.
does it do any good or does it just shorten the life of the heater coil.. it just heats up the coil excessively to burn any crud off.. i dont think it achieves much.. but then again it might do its hard to tell exactly.. reverse blowing does the same thing..
the orginal none automatic cigar design has a hole in the atomizer side u poke a paper clip in.. it says to "reset to factory specifications".. it also says dont do it too often or for too long.. a reverse blow with no cart in is the best manual way of doing it..

Different brands must work differently... when my e-cigs are cleaning themselves, the batterylight just keeps on burning (for what is it... 5 or 6 seconds, maybe a trifle longer). Indeed with hissing sound along with this happening.
I see it happening quite regularly btw (heavy smoker) - certainly not an exception to see it for me.
As to the bad taste afterward... as soon as I see the autoclean activate, I take out the mouthpiece with cartridge as fast as I can (if cartridge is allready pretty dry, this autocleaning can make a brown spot on the cartridge-wool, so I try to avoid that); and when the burningcycle is done, I always blow into the atomizer... this takes out almost all bad taste/air immediately.

do they all do it? even my njoy? I never noticed any self-activation. and now my atomizer is dead! he didn't wanna take a bath. >_<

Autocleaning happens after 1500 puffs (or whatever the number is for the different brands).
This means, that autocleaning always happens while you are puffing... not while it is lying about somewhere (it is the puffing that puts the counter forward and eventualy sets it off on a cleaning-spree). For me, if this is set off, I simply can't smoke on as long as it is going on... it doesn't react to anything I could do. So inhaling just isn't possible when this is going on; doesn't work. When the light stops again; then I can just smoke on again (well, after blowing out the foul air as my choice is).

You blow out the "burnt green beans?" UGH. I can't tolerate that. When I get a snoot full of that, I have to put my mess down for a bit.
I've been using a e-cig penstyle from Meltrex, and the timing couldn't be better. As I was reading this thread it when through the auto cleaning cycle. Unfortunately I didn't realize it until it was too late.
I think it ruined my cart as it's looks somewhat burnt now, which is kind of disappointing considering it was a new cart. I put in yet a newer cart and the taste still reminds me of the 4th of July (yeah, I'm in the US). I think this is exactly what smoking a bottle rocket would taste like.
I just hope the atomizer isn't shot.

According to the Super Cigarette (RN4081) manual the autocleaning is activated by a "micro-computer program". A fellow posted some pictures of a dissected atomizer of this model and there didn't appear to be any inner component that would qualify as a "micro-computer program"...a couple of wires, a U-shaped gizmo, and a round piece of plastic is all that was in there. Maybe it's inside of the battery? If so, then the "1500" puffs isn't on the one atomizer but on each battery.
According to the manual the tip stays lit continuously for 20 secs. My first atomizer did this one time. The 2nd one, never. If 15 puffs equals one cigarette, and one cartridge equals about 10 cigarettes (hahaha), then 1500 puffs would occur every 10 cartridges or so. At 3 carts a day, that's every 3 or 4 days...Well I got this gizmo in late May & it's only done one self-cleaning.....Barbara

Cleaning cycle kills atomizer: Unscrew your batteries! The cleaning cycle will cause your atomizer to self destruct like a message from mission impossible. It just happened again to me. Given the dissection of the design of these things (a coil that heats up wrapped around a fiber full of e-liquid) a burn-off cleaning will not work. I don't know why this feature is even included, other than to get you to buy more atomizers/e-cigs. Any sellers care to coment? Ruyan?
Well it happened, the autocleaning, this morning. It would of been hard to miss...smoke/vapor was pouring out of the inhaling end tip and out of the little outlets that ring the middle. I first thought the thing was on fire!
It did not stay continually lit as the instruction book states, but flashed for a minute or so all the while with the smoke coming out. Quite impressive. Works fine so far, better than it had been, though not as good as when it was new. Barbara

its in the battery.. its more of a simple counter.. its basically the battery control circuitry with some extra features..

ACK!!! I just had my first cleaning that I didn't immediately pull the battery from the unit and I have to say that it has made using that atomizer a no deal for me... I am going to clean it and see if that helps the cause..
Im also going to bring this up with the manufacturer as I think this is a big issue!
Well I just ran it under the tap for a bit and then tried it again. It is allot less nasty now.. Im sure with a real cleaning the taste will be back to normal..

Hmm is the counter kept in each battey? If so would cycling between the 2 cause the cleaning cycle to happen maybe twice in a week or even a day with a nearly equal amount of puffs for each one?
I am hoping my green LED battery from Smokester won't do it, I have never gotten the flashing light that means draw too long, ohh ok I just tried it without atomiser just sucking on the battery and it does flash, its just a heavy draw to get it going hehe!
So if the counter is in both does it mean double trouble for that well behaved atomiser we all know and love?

Unfortunately yes it does... The counter is in the battery, and unless smokester had managed to get his manufacturer to change the design your green battery will eventually enter the cleaning cycle mode.
