auto passthrough death

OK, I have another auto passthru death. I swear the auto passthru just doesn't like me. This one was a replacement and it died within 20 minutes of use in my truck. It was hitting good and then i stopped for a minute to talk to someone and not another bit of vapor from it. I brought it into my house and plugged it into my computer thinking maybe a hotter voltage would wake it up but alas...it is dead. Luckily I ordered a new manual for backup a couple weeks ago. I know someone dissected a bad one and found the soldered lead to the body had come loose. I may do the same with this one just to see what happened. I've had the switch begin acting up but never seen one just up and quit just like that.

RIP auto passthrough. I know the guys will take care of you but feel your pain! I put a drop of crazy glue where the cord enters to stop any movement inside. So far so good.

I had a manual PT die on me, Only used it once, and I even put a wire wrap around it so it wouldn't mess up the wire inside

that sux, my manual died aswell, though i knew it was coming. i had to hold it at just the right angle to get it to work and then one day it just wouldnt light up anymore. lifes just not the same

I just got my passthrough this week, and it died tonight.

I never had good luck with the auto PT's. They all died on me fast. So, I finally bit the bullet and ordered a manual one, even though I dislike having to push a button. So far, it's been working great, and it's been several weeks since I got it.

my auto passthru is still holding up..... BUT... my beloved chrome auto has decided it doesnt wanna hold a charge properly

must be that time of year where things die in multiples together ? like celebritys ? lol

Taping the bottom sounds like a great idea. My manual only works when I twist the cord a bit.

As well as the VK-1s we are simultaneously working on improving our PTs, so thanks for the input! We will be reinforcing the connector with a multi-flex tip, and using a heavier gauge cord, and I will talk to the engineer about the soldering.

Mine's working great, there is always a small percentage of faulty manufacturing, sorry it seems to have hit you twice. Good thing the V4L crew stand behind their product and make it right!

hmm and i was gonna keep a spare PT in the car, I have a pc i run in the car instead of a radio. touchscreen interface. hope the cord is sturdy enough not sure if anyone else has done this or if theres a car 12v to 5 volt usb adapter for a cig outlet.

I had a manual PT up and die on me without warning. Since it was a bonus in my first order, it was no biggie and I didn't mention it to them or on here.

When the next order rolled in, 1 or 2 days later, what was in it? An auto PT bonus!

I discovered I prefer the auto PT in the truck. The other night, driving home from work, I moved my foot on the floorboard and it slid WAY too easy. Yup, my auto PT had fallen & I didn't see it in the dark. I KILLED IT!!!

Its all good though, because I just got another auto in my last order.
