Actually, in a way I have to thank Mark 10 for getting me to quit smoking. Several months ago, I got a coupon from them for a free starter kit. It sat on my desk for a while until I got another coupon for a package of free refills. That got me thinking about attempting to quit again using e-cigs. Before I redeemed the coupon, I did a little research online and read some negative reviews of it. I already had the mindset to try vaping again, so I ended up using the blu Plus+ system. From there I graduated to the Halo Triton system I'm using now.

Participating on forums REQURES a certain amount of bullet-proof emotional makeup. Some people are not cut out for forums, because people ARE going to say stuff that is upsetting.

That's the truth for sure. There's some co-dependency to it I reckon. You need someone who gets a kick out of pushing buttons, and someone who can't resist scratching the itch. Takes up a lot of bandwidth though. You're right about the ignore function too. A great stress reliever.

You are referring to diketones which some nefarious vendors add for flavor?

You'd think at some point people would take responsibility for their choice to smoke cigarettes...

No, I'm talking about when tax greedy BG forces the FDA to hand vaping over to BT ... addictive properties, other than nicotine will appear in BT cigalikes.

I'm waiting for ProVape to come out with a cigalike and tiny tank. That would be sweet...
I can't believe I'm the only one who clicked "like" on this post. He's getting attacked from all sides, and he posts this. It's funny..it's cute...it's grammatically correct...it's just awesome. No love for Steve? No fair. This place wouldn't be the same without him. I, for one, love when Steve comes into a thread...I may not always agree with him, but I like him.

I think they will just tax e-liquids. More money to be made. It will be a reasonable tax, or be pointless. Maybe $5/30ml...

I really enjoy messing around with complicated gear, making coils and wicks and now mixing juice. I think you are right that this would just seem like a PITA to a lot of people, maybe to most current smokers. There's a need for a system where you don't have to mess with complicated gadgets and get juice on your fingers. Something you can just pull out of your pocket and suck on.

On the other hand this can be true, and it can also be true that BT are cynical and capable of almost any form of bad behavior.

Another thing to consider is that a lot of people, including myself, tried cigalikes and they weren't enough to get off cigarettes. Many on this board had this experience. I know quite a few who tried them and went back to cigarettes. I've also seen reports that the success rate is significantly higher with Evods than cigalikes, and higher again with more sophisticated systems.

I'm sure BT are capable of producing a closed cartridge system effective enough to work for many people, at an affordable price. I also think the only situation where they would do that is if the form of vaping I like continues to be available and goes on eating into their profits, and their attempts to manipulate the politics fail. Their current offerings seem to be either weak and ineffective, or absurdly overpriced. Why would we expect them to develop and sell something that would undercut their main product, and not make them very much money?

All very good points Mick :thumb:

This may just be another way of saying what you did in your last paragraph, but if BT are in the ecig market they don't care if people vape or smoke, they get paid either way. OTOH, their market for cigarettes gets smaller every year and that may give them some incentive to invest in ecigs once the regulatory issues are defined.

I see the vape industry becoming dominated by the Tobacco Industry ... I see BG demanding the same tax as smoking ... if 5ml daily is the average eLiquid comsumption ... I see BG wanting $1+ per ml in tax.

They are smart enough to know vapers will just buy from offshore if they impose such a high tax. No point in a tax so high it is never collected...

I'd buy some Camel e-juice, though...

Honestly, I don't even know how to classify a lot of you people who just mindlessly hate tobacco companies after being their customers for (in many cases) so many decades. They're businesses absolutely no different than any vaping company, any drug company, any too maker. They make a product, they sell it, they lobby the government to further their aims....

...they aren't out there to screw you. Take off the tin foil hats and grow up for crying out loud.

Denial. Someone else to blame for their addiction, rather than looking in the mirror. I smoked because of my own stupidity, not because of additives or chemicals in cigarettes...

I'm sure more and more are every day. Cigarettes Mall - Buy Cheap cigarettes | Mail Order cigarettes online has what I used to smoke for $20, costs about $60 a carton now.

Man, just looking at that site reminded me of cig finger stink. Thank goodness for ecigs

even at $60 a carton ... how much you figure is tax?

my point being ... eLiquid is about to triple in price ... and worse, BT eLiquid is likely to have added addictive FDA approved properties in it.

Tax is what, 30% of the cost of a carton, on average? BT raised the prices on cigarettes at the same time first Obama federal cigarette tax was passed. A 30% tax on e-liquid would only raise my e-juice of choice to $30/30ml...

not sure what Tobacco tax is where you live ...

here in Ontario Canada it is ... 14 cents per smoke.

Tobacco tax rates were last changed on May 2, 2014. The current rates are:

13.975¢ per cigarette
$2.80 per pack of 20 cigarettes
$3.49 per pack of 25 cigarettes
$27.95 per carton of 200 cigarettes
13.975¢ per gram or part gram of cut tobacco
Tax on cigars is 56.6% of the taxable price

https://www.ontario.ca/data/tobacco-tax-rates

I predict BG will tax vaping on these levels.

So 30%? How much does a carton cost?
