I'm holding out for popcorn that's not only burnt, but rancid too. Until then, nothing tastes anywhere near as good to me as the juice I mixed myself using flavorings from TFA.

I did a fair amount of reading before I embarked on the DIY journey and I particularly took to heart the advice of an experienced juice-maker in this forum who said to start with minimal amounts of flavoring.

Since unflavored juice was at the very least tolerable to me, starting with tiny amounts of flavoring was easy for me to embrace. Even when I used too small an amount for me to taste, I could still vape the result. Steeping, which is the action that takes place as the mixed ingredients get to know each other over a period of days, definitely improves flavors. Even when you're just mixing unflavored nic juice with more unflavored base, I think you'll find it smoother the second day than the first.

BTW, what/who is TFA?

I'm having a similar problem with my juice tasting like crap, but hell it's only been three days! My rig is one of the really basic Katana kits from Vape Dojo, so there's no VV or VW, and the clearo is a standard CE4. I've been pretty consistently vaping since I got the thing Thursday afternoon, and by yesterday evening I was getting almost none of the sweet from my Caramel Machiatto Jutsu in 12mg. Today, it's even worse.

Damn, I wish I'd gotten a second clearo along with my second batt, so I could switch it out, maybe try the tobacco flavor, see if it has the same problem... Newb mistake.

Well I think it's pretty typical to have it all taste like crap at first. Your taste buds have no clue what's going on. Have you been keeping hydrated? That even helps me a little. Hopefully you'll get new clearos soon. I think having only one flavor really screws you over if the taste changes. Within a week of starting, I bough 6 clearos so I had plenty of options. The way I figure it, you are dependent or becoming dependent on something that has a lot more variables going than a cigarette, so it's important to have back-up stuff. Admittedly, I went a little crazy, 4 back up batteries for my eGo, 2 cheap-o kits so that I could replace cartos locally if I had to, and too many juices to count. But I don't feel too bad about it. My lungs are not replaceable. Money is just a thing, so I buy whatever I think I need (with vendors giggling in the wings I imagine!!!)

Oh and I forgot the 8 Kanger MT3's and Evods I bought, and 12 replacement heads. Really the vendors must see me coning. I've spent 6 bills in 2 1/2 months...BUT again, my lungs are happy, and once I calm down, I'll be spending a LOT less than I did on analogs. Good luck and keep it going!

I would have went just as crazy, but I was buying for two - my partner decided SHE wanted to vape too, being a former smoker who missed everything but the nicotine. So BAM! Double the order. I thought I was being safe by getting two flavors - tobacco and the machiatto - but it never dawned on me to get multiple clearos, and I'm a little disappointed that Rachel at Dojo didn't suggest it.

I have been drinking a LOT more water lately because of the dry mouth, and not just drinking but swishing too. Doesn't seem to help too much. I also haven't quite kicked the analogs yet - one in the AM, one in the PM - and now both taste pretty bad, and almost the same. Could it be the equipment? I mean, the clearo is almost brand new, the wicks look fine...

Alas, I'll keep vaping because it's not smoking, order some new supplies Monday, and maybe drag my cohort to a local shop tomorrow or Monday to get a quick fix.

In my limited experience, I think of clearos (I've used nothing else) as something I can't afford to run out of any more than I can afford to run out eliquid or charged devices to use them. I'm in the process of switching from Ce4's to Ce5's so that I can replace heads for less cost than buying new clearos. Rebuilding, other than replacing the heads, is not for me. At no more than $3 per replacement head, and probably less, I'll replace one without hesitation no matter how short the life of the previous one.

try dripping. alot of people prefer it

Explain dripping to me. My understanding is that you dripping liquid directly onto the coil. Does that mean that there are no wicks? How does this make the vape really different from having wick submerged in liquid feeding the coil? It just seems sort of tiresome to me. Is my understanding incorrect?

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head for me, too. If I stick with clearos (I'm probably going to try a tank+carto too, just to be thorough) I'm definitely moving to a CE5 for that very reason. I don't think I want to get deep into rebuilding, but I cringe at the thought of just tossing out a clearo and buying a new one if I can just replace the head.

But is it really true that the tank+carto gives better flavor than a clearo? Anyone?

I can only speak from one side of the argument but I've read a lot from both sides. The jury is apparently deadlocked. People who have used both seem to be divided. Some say cartos are a smoother vape, some say they can taste the cotton and have therefore moved to clearos. Then there are many who say that a dripping atomizer would be their forever choice if only it didn't require two hands and a lot of work. Personally, I am so happy with clearos, the delivery method I started with, that I have no need to spend time and money investigating other delivery systems.

I have two V4L Vapor Titan batteries, and the older one now consistently results in a terrible burnt rubber balloon taste. Even worse, it seems to ruin the whole carto. (I'm currently using disposables.)

I didn't ask for a refund because they sent me a free one when my charger broke. I know you've already tried multiple batteries, but I just want to throw in that data point in case it helps you or anyone else address an issue with bad flavor.

I cannot offer a solution to your problem, but I can offer my sympathies as I have been going through the exact same thing for the past 4 days. I have switched between my CE3, Vivi Nova and even went back to the little tanks that came with my Ego-C. No matter what juice/delivery system I use it all leaves a chemical taste in my mouth. I have only been at this for about 6 weeks, and I still smoke about 4-5 analogs a day, and even they taste crappy. Everything used to taste GOOD before. No clue what is going on. I just wanted to let you know you are not alone LOL.

Thanks Lisa, I appreciate it. Funniest thing happened yesterday. I was vaping and ALL OF A SUDDEN I could taste everything and it was pretty great for the first time in almost 4 months. I had a strawberry in one tank, butterscotch in another--I could taste the complexities in both and finally got what other people must experience. Then, inexplicably, it just went away. I got my first VV the other day, and it helps. If it tastes chemically and gross, I adjust and the bad goes away. But, nothing tastes as it did for the few hours yesterday, at best it's some vague after thought of taste--not the real thing. I'm hoping the unflavored I ordered will do the trick. Maybe the taste will come back again.

What do you use? you have a VV? If it worked for me, maybe it will work for you. :D

That's great that you got some good taste yesterday! :rickroll:

I am just using my Ego-C batteries, not twist or anything, just regular.

When I first started with the little tanks that came with the Ego-C, I never had a problem with icky taste. Every juice tasted pretty good to me. Then when I tried the Phoenix CE3, I REALLY got to taste the juices and realized that they tasted different. I didn't like a lot of them in the CE3. When I got paid again I purchased some Mini Vivi's, and I tried all the juices I have in them and only like one. I got the funny taste when I started using the Vivis. I thought maybe they needed a good rinse, so I took 'em apart and rinsed 'em, filled 'em back up and still icky (except for one juice). I started out with vaping Johnson Creek Original, and it was GREAT in the Ego-C tank, but DISGUSTING in the Vivi's.

I don't know why, but I guess I have to vape different juices from different tanks to get the taste I enjoy from them. I have read a lot of posts on this board and never saw anyone say this, so I suppose I'm just a weirdo LOL. Maybe it is a battery thing? I don't know, but it's very frustrating. I wish I could find one delivery system that I enjoy them all from. I liked the CE3's the best, but such a pain to fill with a syringe. I ordered some Kanger T3's that should be here tomorrow. Maybe they will be good for me.

I'm curious. When you adjust to get rid of the bad taste, do you go up or down????
