Dearest vaping Community,

I ‘m a new vaper. 83 days with no cheating. Woohoo. I’m committed to vaping and can never go back to analogs. However, I have a serious problem and humbly come to you, ECF community, hoping you can help.
EVERYTHING I VAPE TAKES LIKE CRAP. AND I MEAN EVERYTHING.

It started with the Apollo pen device. I was vaping their classic tobacco out of a carto. It was okay but it tasted chemical-ly. I stopped using the device pretty quick—I ‘m a heavy smoker and I kept shutting down the batteries with my long, heavy pulls. So, next was an eGo and star dusts. No problem with the battery, but the taste was still pretty bad. No matter what flavor I tried, no matter what company I tried, at best, a juice would taste ok for a couple few days, and then go wrong. It would taste like cheese from outer space or an old rubber balloon. I switched to Kangers hoping that would help. Nope, nothing. Every juice I tried smelled like its description but tasted only like a memory of itself, and not the actual taste. Then, of course, it changed and would taste terrible. Brushing my teeth, hydrating well, helped a little, but at best the juice tasted like some vague representation of itself and then would go wrong. I got my first VV yesterday. I figured having control would help. It has not. EVERYTHING TASTES LIKE CRAP. No matter what I vape, I taste, maybe, a vague hint of what it’s supposed to be, with the overriding taste of chemical; I taste the test tube, the eye dropper, the gears that made it. Not the thing itself.
It’s depressing. I wonder: Am I expecting the juice to taste like the actual thing, when in reality it never does to anyone? OR, is everyone else having a good time at the zoo petting the animals while I can only look at the pictures and wonder what the fur feels like?

So I ask a few questions:

--Has anyone else experienced/heard of this?
--Would a different PG/VG mix help? I’ve been using 50/50
--Do I have a glycerin aversion or allergy? Are there juices that don’t use glycerin? What would they be like to vape?
--Is it the chemistry of my mouth? (Not to be gross, but I frequently wake up with what I can only describe as a film on my lips. I’ve always had it. Don’t know if it’s dried skin or a protein deposit. My lips feel coated and I have to rub them clean.)

YO, YO ECF. Help a sister out!!
I’ll continue to vape even if I’m miserable. But I’d like more. I want it to be good

I have a local vendor that i get my juice from. I use strictly tobacco, and I had black cherry to it, haven't really had a problem. 83 days is awesome, and it could be your taste buds, as some on here have had muted taste after a period of time. I've also seen where they steep their liquid in warm water for a period of time-that might help. Someone will chime in on this with more experience, Good Luck to ya.

Not sure, but it may take more time than you think, keep switching your flavors around to see what happens, drink water in between, you know the blah blah blah. Also, depending on where you get your juice you may ask for more flavoring added to your mix.

Also as an after though your atomizers might need some cleaning?

I always have 2 carto tanks going for just that reason. Having 2, or more, flavors and switching back and forth makes a BIG difference. If I only use one flavor I have the same problem as you, most of the time. If you switch back and forth with 2 or more of your "more" favorite flavors it will make a big difference.

Can't speak to the moldy cheese, old feet taste....but I have had assorted issues with muted flavors. I've found the part of it is vape technique, exhale through nose before full inhale for best flavor.
Another issue is with the juice company. I have found it to be true that some company's...like madcattvapors flavor their juice more than others. Most vendors you can request extra flavor to be added, sometimes for free sometimes for a cost.

excellent tip! I've also found about a day of vaping the same juice I can't taste the subtle flavors anymore. I then vape a strong menthol for a while, seems to waken the old taste buds up.

Thanks to all so far. But am hoping someone answers some of my specific questions like diff types of glycerin etc. If I'm just gonna have to wait for my tongue to wake that's okay. As to switching around juices, Ive tried that too and nothing works very well. Once they start to taste bad, they all taste pretty much the same.

It could be the VG. I have tasted some nasty vendor juice in the past. I make my own e-liquid because most vendors will not disclose their source of VG, PG or nic. When I first started vaping it was easy because I just purchased menthol everything. Its a flavor that is hard to mess up. However, I had a few bad experiences with menthol.

All of my full PG flavors taste like crap to me now, but were awesome when I started vaping. It happened overnight and it hasn't changed.

I don't know why, or exactly what happened... But now I prefer full VG, although I can tolerate 50/50.

What is the base of the flavors you have? Are they the same or do you have a variety of mixes? Are they all from the same vendor or multiple vendors?
