My personal opinion is lower the voltage to 4.0 to 4.2 (nothing higher), add some extra flavor if the vendor does this (and if not, find one that does), sweeter and colored ejuices are typically stronger in taste so get small (10ml) bottles of it first (if you are not doing that already). Get lighter nicotine levels (I found some of the higher nicotine levels lighten the taste). Prime the e-cig (automatics take a couple small puffs before doing a regular analog drag and manual hold the button down for a second or two) and take smaller drags on it. The longer drags on the e-cig will cause a battery burn taste (chemical). I also found that 70/30 and 80/20 to be the best mix for myself; get great strong flavor. Also, if you know of experienced vapors around you - check to see if you are adding the ejuice to the carto correctly...I have noticed myself sometimes not adding in enough or even too much. When I add too much then the carto goes bad fast and I loose all flavor and when I add too little, it is not long before I am burning and tasting the chemical taste or burnt taste.

Bluemist vaping has some pretty good juices and they add extra flavor also, they also have a couple samplers where you can choose different flavors. My Freedom Smokes has some really good flavorless juice (from what I have been told by some people) at a very good price. Mountain Oak Vapors has some decent flavors but many of the tobacco flavored ejuices have a chemical taste to them (my opinion).

hope you get it sorted out and congrats on 83 days analog free - that is awesome. I have personally assisted 5 people locally get into e-cigs to quit smoking and they would love to hear that you have been 83 days analog free. They like myself do still use analogs.

My experience has been with the KGO and also an 808 black slim e-cig (can't remember actual name of the 808). I have personally gone through about 100 different flavors and several different combinations of nic levels, added flavors and different mixes (50/50 - the worst for me besides 100%, 70/30, 80/20, 60/40). I am still trying to find the best way to vape to get a strong and smooth "mouth hit" that is strong and a mild to strong TH that is also smooth like an analog - the better I can immulate the analog the better. Personally, I like mixing the RY4 with a "Newport" type menthol but also mixing the RY4 with fruit flavors (cherry, pumpkin pie, and apple cinnamon) with the fruit flavors having extra flavor. I am still checking out different flavors from different vendors.

Congrats on 83 days! I say yes, try the unflavored 100% VG juice from the vendor you named, and don't add any of the flavoring options, because that would defeat the purpose, which is to find out both whether you have an adverse reaction to PG and whether you like non-flavored juice. You may have said already, but what nicotine strength have you been using?

I use juice which is predominantly VG, anywhere from 70 to 100 percent.

Congrats to you bigbells, I see you've had no analogs in about a month! Pretty cool isn't it, to be able to stop after so much time? I had my last one on the 40th anniversary of starting. Yeah, at this point, I don't want to try anymore flavors. What I plan to do is buy 30ml of unflavored 50/50 and 30 ml of 100% VG and see what happens. Do you think I should start with a diff mix, say 30/70 PG/VG? And, do you think going down on the nic level will help? I've been using 18mg.

Whether to go down on nicotine I couldn't tell you. It depends on what your body is used to. I'm not worried about reducing my nicotine amount at this point. Eventually, I'll reduce it some. If you reduce the nicotine at the same time that you're trying unflavored liquid you won't know whether any improvement is due to reduced nicotine or to higher VG and absence of flavorings.

Throat hit, for most people, is provided primarily by PG and nicotine... some flavorings contribute more than others to throat hit. You can buy a 4 oz container of VG for around $2 at the pharmacy, so if you find the 50/50 juice has too much throat hit, you could add more VG to it. Bear in mind that you'd also be reducing the amount of nicotine per ml if you did this. You can even vape just plain VG, which of course has no nicotine or PG in it, to see if that "feel" is to your liking.

Thanks, I think I'll do just as you suggest. It would be so great to vape without the thought that the taste could go bad at just about any second.

Hey, Wish me luck. Just ordered nicotine with PG and some straight VG from Wizard Lab and got a neat little beaker too. (man...I spend sooo much money on this stuff--but of course still less than on analogs.) Your help was much appreciated, as was all repliers.

Congrats and good luck! :toast:
I've been dealing with a similar problem to yours and it's been on and off. At first the nicotine started having a peppery flavor and was burning my mouth so I lowered the nic level. Wouldn't you know, I'm now vaping a 0 nic level (woot!) and all I taste is sweet from the juice I vape (same flavor).... I also just ordered some VG, PG, and flavors from WL.. I'm also going to mess around with the unflavored.

Rinsing my mouth helps at times when my juice isn't giving me flavor.

I haven't read the whole thread but I had the same problem when I started and I went to diy. You can try different pg/vg ratios and experiment with adding flavor a drop at a time. I still find very few vendor juices I like. Check out the diy forum and start reading. You can even add a drop or 2 of concentrated flavoring to existing juices to make them better.

Good luck!

Please make sure to follow the instructions and warnings in the DIY subsection of the Eliquid subforum. Nicotine, by weight, is more poisonous than arsenic. What strength of nicotine eliquid did you order?

I ordered 24mg and will dilute with VG. Am assuming I will be okay.

Unless your skin is sensitive to any of the ingredients, that's a comparatively low danger level. It's the same level of nicotine that we who vape 24mg/ml nicotine juice get on us if our devices leak any. Suggest you do all mixing over discardable newspaper or paper towels. That suggestion becomes more of a requirement if there are kids or pets around, because it's much more toxic to them than to human adults.

Thanks bigbell, I'll definitely be careful. I have a tray that I do everything in and am careful to rinse stuff thoroughly after use.

Just tried 6 different samples from Delicious Vapes. All disgusting to me. And I got a new yucky sensation...lots of them tasted like burnt popcorn. :pop::pop: Don't know why I pay for the pleasure, I could just lick the bottom of a microwave and get the same taste. Sure hope I get my flavorless soon.

I'm holding out for popcorn that's not only burnt, but rancid too. Until then, nothing tastes anywhere near as good to me as the juice I mixed myself using flavorings from TFA.

I did a fair amount of reading before I embarked on the DIY journey and I particularly took to heart the advice of an experienced juice-maker in this forum who said to start with minimal amounts of flavoring.

Since unflavored juice was at the very least tolerable to me, starting with tiny amounts of flavoring was easy for me to embrace. Even when I used too small an amount for me to taste, I could still vape the result. Steeping, which is the action that takes place as the mixed ingredients get to know each other over a period of days, definitely improves flavors. Even when you're just mixing unflavored nic juice with more unflavored base, I think you'll find it smoother the second day than the first.

Will this problem ever go away if you get it ?

Yes it does go away. Mine lasted about two weeks and I haven't had a problem since. Definitely stay hydrated. It's almost a rite of passage to go through vapors tongue. :glare: It usually happens around two months after starting to vape.

For what it's worth i had similar troubles a few weeks back, burnt popcorn taste and all, until i rewicked one of my CE4s. Once I had it apart I noticed that one of the wick strands was burnt nearly in half. Once rebuilt all flavor returned. I checked all my other devices and found the same thing.

I wish it was that simple for me but I get these horrible tastes even with brand new heads on my Kangers. I think my mouth chemistry just doesn't work with ejuice. It's a bummer. I'm hoping that unflavored will make it better

When everything tastes the same or just lousy, I vape something menthol or mint and it seems to clean the palate so to speak. After I vape menthol my other juice tastes better

I thought that might work and gave it a try a while back. Nothing but gross, although brushing my teeth sometimes works.

It would be soooooo great if it went away for me...its been more than 2 months and started within weeks of starting to vape. I'll keep hoping!

At this point, I'm not even thinking about flavoring. About 2 weeks ago, I bought some extra extra flavor chocolate coz the regular was kinda weak. The xtra xtra was too much of a bad thing-chemincal-ly-so I cut it with all natural vanilla extract. It only made it worse and it tasted like old rubber pants. (How I know what old rubber pants tastes like is my secret...) For some reason I just can't seem to tolerate this stuff. I did get some strawberry from delcious vapes and it's not too bad right now, but I guarantee within a week it will taste like a goodyear reject. sigh...
