Well, I wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions and comments. I had a lot to think about to try to solve my “bad taste” problem, and I think it’s partially worked out.

I believe that my mouth chemistry really is contributing to the yucky tastes I’ve been getting. Keeping hydrated, using mouthwash and switching up flavors are all things that help a little. But, and I can’t stress this enough, if you have the same problem, try a variable voltage device. When the taste is bad, I can dial the voltage, usually down, to minimize the gross-ness. Ultimately, the juice doesn’t taste like much of anything, but at least it doesn’t taste like old rubber, burnt popcorn, dirty chemicals and machine parts.

I had a taste-break-through the other day. For about 3-4 hours, everything tasted great. I don’t know what happened. It was as if my tongue awoke from a deep sleep, and I could taste subtle nuances in the juice I was vaping. It didn’t last long, but I’m hoping that things will clear up and I can taste as others do. In the meantime, I will vape with my crippled little tongue and continue to be thankful for the device, quitting smoking, and feeling better. If anyone has any further suggestions or comments regarding persistent yucky tastes, feel free to post them for your poor, afflicted, bad-tongued compadres.

Cheers!:)

I've been looking all over for a juice that tastes like old rubber, burnt popcorn, dirty chemicals and machine parts. Where can I buy that one? I had to laugh because occasionally, I'll get a puff that tastes exactly like that and can usually solve the problem by tilting and "rolling" my clearomizer to get the wicks saturated again, if that fails, I fill 'er back up.

Actual fact-
About 10% of the population can't taste the sweetness in "Diet" beverages. To us minority people those drinks taste like toxic sludge.

You might be in the minority group of people who taste things differently. A lot of the flavors people rant and rave about are awful to me and I always end up on good ole DIY Menthol. Even then the subtle aftertaste of the PG gets to me after a while.

Hmmmm I hate diet soda. It tastes absolutely gross to me. So, if I'm one of those minority folks, what do I do???

If only rolling solved this, I would be so happy. Believe me, I've tried. If I thought it would work, I'd hang upside down. Alas, I have an alien mouth. Maybe I should do it all backwards and put something gross in my clearo...how about "cat pee" or "eau de armpit?" Maybe there's a market out there for people with alien tongues!

i think you must try figure out what's the problem?
Is it the ecig or is it yourself. Me myself tasted lots of different flavor from a single flavor . and the setting of atomizer n battery can bring u lots of pressure when u vape. Sometimes today's vape is not as good as yesterday. So pal, I think its not us, sometimes it was not right to our mouth

I"m the same (can't stand diet anything.) We are a minority in this and it's a frustrating road to finding what works for us. Kangers are good because the juice sits right on the wicks. So what i suggest is either a DIY juice or lots of samplers till you can find juice you like. I actually have to dial my twist down otherwise I get the burnt popcorn taste as well. Those of us with a more in depth palette have to do more work when it comes to vaping i'm afraid. At 87 days your taste buds should be healed up enough that you can probably taste flavors that others can't believe me I know. I'm 2 months into vaping and I'm still looking for the right set up to vape with. Clearo's worked ok for me, Kangers didn't work at all, i'm on to a knock off vivi nova, and my next try is a carto tank.

Just don't get frustrated. There is a right combination for you, it's just a little more difficult to find it. Hope this helps.

Hmmm, you think its because I have a more "in depth" palette? Interesting. I've been thinking it was because my tongue was sort of dumb, blunted, chemically unbalanced...but you're right, it's probably been long enough...I should be past any issues with vaper's tongue. But, I'm with you about having to dial down the voltage and I'm glad you said that. Thought it might be a noob mistake. I can't take the taste when the voltage is dialed up "correctly." I did get some "strawberry" from DV that I actually like and can taste pretty well. Am hoping it doesn't change on me and taste like paint thinner.

When you said Kangers didn't work for you, what did you mean? I have a lot of problems with gurgling and leaking, but wonder if changing to something else would help taste-wise? I got a vapeonly BCC but haven't tried it yet. What are you looking for in changing to a carto tank?

Thanks for the encouragement. It is frustrating, but I can't give up because analogs are out of the question.

Sorry for the delay in answer, so the kangers I used gave me a very mild metallic taste and almost no TH at all. I'm looking into getting an ibtanked carto/tank because the reviews I've seen are all good plus they have excellent customer service. I'm using clearos at the moment and the taste is very muted to me and I prefer richer darker flavors.

And yes if you find yourself dialing down a twist because you get a burnt taste I do think you have a more "refined" or "in depth" sense if taste. Everyone is different for sure.

Feel free to pm me if you feel the need to bounce ideas off of someone.
