I love everyone's enthusiasm for the mods! I'm currently finishing up a lot of pre-orders (finish is peeving me off...winter = longer curing times) and then I'm to work on some more 18650's. Seems like there is some significant interest in the 18650's, so I'll be building these for the very near future.

I want to say right now that I'm *very* appreciative of all the PM's and posts from people here that want a mod. After I'm done with the mods that are sold right now, I'm going to take some time to consider a strategy for moving forward. I have some great ideas for some new designs (some of which I'm working on now..waiting for finish to cure just kills me, it's such a waste of time). I'm going to consider a way to somehow take interest and still allow me to make mods in my spare time that seems fair and allows all that desire one to have a chance to own one. Any ideas, either via PM or posts here in the thread are most welcome.

Ken, just think of the curing time as a way to work on your other designs, don't let it kill you, I for one am willing to wait as long as it takes for you to have your desired finish and I'm sure the other pre-orders feel the same way. You could always use some of the curing time to cut up pieces and prep others.

I just hate curing the finishes because I don't have a dedicated finish area (so I can't really work on other mods...sawdust, etc mares the finish). So when it's curing I'm basically sitting here doing nothing..(I'm watching cricket...man can baseball season come soon enough?)...waste pieces kind of give me some stuff to experiment with, but I still can't really create any sawdust while stuff finishes.

Some idea of concepts coming up...colored woods. Figured wood with dyes applied to give it some color. Blue for now, but just some test scrapes and not completely finished. Along with my beloved hand plane and the upcoming batch of pre-sale 18650's.

Another up for sale:

This is made from the Birds-eye maple that I had left over. This is a 3.7v, 510 sealed connection mod. Made for a single 14500 battery, it has a C&K tactile switch with a mosfet circuit..button on the side of the mod. Red fire LED.

This is the smallest 14500 wooden mod I've made yet. And, I rounded the edges so it appears even smaller. It has a rustic look about it....finished with an amber shellac, sanded to enhance the grain, and then sealed with 3 coats of oil and urethane varnish.

I'm hesitant to sell it because I want to keep it for myself...but I also want to buy some hand planes, so....

Just an Idea for ya,..... an old toaster oven could work well for a curing area, it would keep debris away and keep a somewhat controled environment. Of coarse it doesn't have to be a working oven either but a low temp wouldn't hurt, and it would give you an extra shelf on top of the oven as well.

Those are some nice looking guitars. I got the color idea originally from a PRS guitar I think. I remember them having a nice blue model in the store I worked at eons ago. Then I did some research and found the video I posted about creating sunburst finishes and it's on. It's not that difficult, but it adds a lot of time. Worth it in the end though.
