Great interview Basilray,

I too got to talk to the guys and use the eclipse at vapefest. it works very well and looks great. It definetly has its place in our vaping community. Truck drivers, vapers with long commutes, vapers who prefer direct dripping or less fuss, etc....

The only thing i really dont like about it is the capacitive switches (i prefer button)

BTW...thanks again for giving me a few drops of the ecto-plasma at vapefest. That has to be one of the best tasting juices ive tried in awhile :)

I want one lol. Looks a bit complicated at first glance. Im just wondering, do you still use your own attys or all you need is juice and a drip tip?

Yes, you still use your own attys. At launch, you'll receive the feed adapter and several pre-cut lengths of tubing depending on what atty you want to run: 510, 306 (need the 306 to 510 drip tip adapter) or 901. The feed adapter for 801 will not be ready for launch. Owners can use whatever drip tip they like.

BTW...thanks again for giving me a few drops of the ecto-plasma at vapefest. That has to be one of the best tasting juices ive tried in awhile :)

It was my pleasure!

Nice video, and I did have a chance at the Philly Vapefest to actually use it. It is heavier then any other Mods I have ever used, but it is constructed solid, and with that battery it will last all day, and then some, and because of the auto feeder there is no more mess of juice leaking, and cleaning, or buying a drip shield, Now I would diffidently buy a cell phone type belt case to carry this around with me. Bottom line here is, one of them has my name on it already when they are available for sale, this would be my everyday go to Mod.

Probably the best vaping interview video I've seen, i.e., it held my interest. So many are just wandering conversations filled with redundancies and irrelevancies. The review/demonstration portion also was well-done: true BasilRay quality, although here you had the challenge of working through two other people.

As for the device, I just watched Scott Bonner's review of the Precious LV2: similar features, implemented in an entirely different way and an entirely different package. I prefer the shape and appearance of the Precious and the easier voltage adjustment (with the ring of lights) of the Eclipse eq. [This is all academic for me (for writing my guides); I can't afford either device.:(]

Thank you, sir. Seeing you of all people enjoy my work always makes me proud of my efforts!

As for the pricing, I hear you. I think both devices bring out the truth in the adage "You've gotta' pay to play." That being said...I'll be pinching a few pennies for the release of the Eclipse!

Some say the price is kind of high for them, but for me I figure it's only 2 weeks worth of analogs that I would be spending. If still smoking analogs it would of cost me $450.00 for the month at $7.50 a pack, two packs a day here in NJ. Plus saving my life, and/or the pain of lung cancer. What a small price to pay!

I totally get that. Fortunately for my pocket book...analogs never reached beyond $5.50/per and I never usually exceeded a packa day.

When I started vaping my primary reasoning was :
1) saving money,
2) less harmful/offensive to those around me
3) no more ashtray mouth in the morning
4) personal health benefits

....in that order. I figured I was spending about 230-250 a month on analogs (thankfully I don't live in Jersey), so I put my monthly vaping budget at 125...I figured if I spent half as much as I did it would all be good. So far since December I have kept to that budget even with the purchase of the occasional new device tons of juice, some from the more expensive vendors, and DIY supplies, mod batteries...ect.

Devices like this totally defeat one of the primary reasons I started vaping in the first place, however I recognize them as wonderful advances in ecig technology and hope they represent the future of vaping. I can certainly see the appeal of it but if I was to purchase this or the Darwin it would mean my new habit has become more expensive than my old habit. A step backwards for me and my goals.

I would buy one, and probably will, but I too am concerned about a new generation of ecigg technology that will cost $280-Up to vape. The industry will move with the technology and most people will be forced to buy these items to vape.

Sure. But this is cutting edge in the vaping world. Over time, as these types of devices are manufactured from more than one vendor, and the R&D is covered, prices are sure to come down.

LCD PC monitors used to be $600+ for 15" 4:3 aspect ratio. Look at how much they have dropped. The same will happen over time in the vaping world.

I'm amused by the critics who's grounds are anti-tech. I own a Precise 18650 and love the thing. Low tech, no wires, artfully constructed. It's a beautiful device I use daily.

I'm also a bit of a geek and a gadget freak (with no interest in smart phones). I can't deny that is part of the appeal of the Eclipse for me. It does come with a warranty. And, if need arises, component level repair is offered.

I've paid much more for much less enjoyment. If you don't think it's for you, just don't buy one. Easy answer.

Not sure of the exact warranty but it does come with one, I think he said a year, and was assured repairs if ever needed beyond the warranty if the Mod was not abused will be honored, and as for myself I have a LOT of Mods but this is the one I have been dreaming about, No dripping, or feeding, all automatic, VV, all day battery then some, USB charging, not to mention no mess of leaks. This Mod will be Heaven on earth if all goes well. And sure someone will come out a even better one eventually, and in the future you will see a lot more of these high tech chip Mod's. Still waiting for that laser atomizer to be developed.

The Warranty will be 6 months with the opt to purchase 6 more months for a total of 1yr from what I have been told by Mario.

yea it does.

The REO GRAND is all mechanical....it will likely NEVER break down.

Not falling for all this techy stuff. I want reliable. Just swap an 18650 batt every day or 2 and pop on a new LR510 and good to go.

These arn't iPhones...the circuitry and juice mix will cause failure.

The eclipse eq is a technological advance that some people have been waiting for. Just as there are millions of juice flavors, there are millions of different preferences for a mod.
I value quality construction, sturdy, reliable, low maintenance, and my freind values convenience and appearance.
The wonderful thing is that the vaping industry is taking off and will flourish because there are inventive, creative individuals who are adventurous and motivated to take it further involving technology.

Been seeing a lot of this lately. What is it about having that mechanical mod and being pissy?

I think Mechanical Mod's are great, they will hardly never break down on you , but I want convenience with a Mod that I just have to press and vape all day long, and that's it!

A mechanical mod just means melting springs or the like.
A high tech mod has protection circuits to keep it from breaking down.

The all-mechanical mod thing has my ire...they are not "better" they are just mechanical....
