I've been vaping for about a month and a half and within 3 weeks and after tons of research, bought a Vamo and 2 Efest 18650 2250mah batteries and a trustfire battery charger. After having my Vamo and batteries for a week and still doing more research to better care for my things, I read some stuff about how batteries shouldn't be charged over 4.2v or it can lessen their life/damage them.

I decided to check this on my Vamo and on a newly charged battery it read at 4.3v. At first I thought it was a fluke but I noticed it needed to be charged much sooner than before, a day and a half instead of the 2 and a half days it lasted before. I was already in the process of charging the other battery and when it was finished, checked it and it read at 4.3v. So in my worry, I bought a Nitecore i2, and waited to charge my batteries again until it arrived. After receiving my i2 and charging one of my Efests, I checked and yet again, it read at 4.3v.

So I come here for help. Is it safe or okay for my batteries to be charged to 4.3? Is it my Vamo reading them wrong? Do I have two bad chargers? I am very confused.

Sorry if this was posted before or answered in another thread. Having trouble finding a good answer.

Hi welcome and congrats. Anything with the word "Fire" in it should be avoided...based on my experience owning both TrustFire Chargers and TrustFire batts and the failure of both. Batts should be only charged to 4.2 BUT if you're using the Vamo as the batt/ voltage tester don't expect accuracy. The Nitecore i2 is a solid and highly regarded charger. Try not to discharge the batts all the way and they'll last longer.

I have the Vamo, the Nitecore I2, and the unprotected panasonic 2250 mAh imr. I'm not familiar with the trustfire charger or the efest battery brands. It is my understanding that the Nitecore will shut off when the battery is fully charged. I don't know if this will help or not, but here is a link for battery charging: need some help on charging 18650's

Okay, if its just my Vamo not being overly accurate, and the i2 is a very good charger, when should I charge?
I own the Panny 2250 and the 3400 mah batts and they're great on my Vamo. Too bad you ordered as Fasttech sells them for about 1/2 price. (bought 4 X 2250 + 2 X 3400 for less than $40.00 incl delivery) I generally charge them when they're at 3.7 volts.
In regards to batteries as long as you buy NONPROTECTED HIGH DRAIN batteries you're good to go. Sometimes with protected batts the Vamo doesn't play nice cuz of it's protection circuitry. Kinda like running 2 anti virus progs on your pc at the same time.

Thanks for the welcome Leoleoleo and Vapor eyes!

Okay, if its just my Vamo not being overly accurate, and the i2 is a very good charger, when should I charge? I've been doing it around 3.4 to 3.2. I also ordered the Panasonic 18650's I read everyone raving about but was afraid to use them and possible damage them in my charger.

That voltage is fine. The key is doing what works for you. Charge when it's convenient, instead of trying to get an extra :2c: return on investment from a $9 battery. The VAMO's low voltage cutoff (3.2V) wont let the voltage drop to the danger zone (2.5V)(cue: Top Gun theme song)

Thanks for the quick replies. I am using IMR batteries and actually did buy the Panasonic ones off of Fasttech. I stumbled upon Vapor Joes almost two weeks ago and check there religiously. I've actually been browsing this forum for around two weeks. Which has been a massive help, has led me to some great vendors too.

Cool and glad to hear that. A  for Vapor Joe although my wallet wouldn't agree :D

Without getting too technical, it's because the protection circuit on the battery is being tripped due to high current pulses. ie: The VAMO is drawing too much current from the battery. It's not an interference or compatibility thing, just too much current.

Another question then, if the Efest and Panasonic batteries are good, how long do they generally last for someone who vapes about 4 to 6ml a day? One of my Efests lasted almost 3 full days and the next one, was only a day and a half. My vaping habbits didn't change and I am using the same set up, Vamo/Kanger Pro tank.

Unfortunately quality control with pretty well almost everything these days is hit and miss. I do know that AW uses the Panasonic batts- they actually don't manufacture batts but pick out the best and rebrand them. The Tesla electric car is powered by by the highly regarded Panny Batteries- they get rave reviews.

How long they last is primarily dependent on ohms resistance vs the voltage or wattage you are using.

I'm a voracious vaper I vape a Panny cgr18650 down to 3.5 v in 5-6 hours....I recharge at 3.5v (but I run 1.5 to 2 ohm resistance on most VV devices)

Low resistance runs batteries out quicker? I read that the iClear 30's can be battery drainers, of which I have two and absolutely love. Though I haven't noticed them draining my bats any quicker than the Kanger Pro.

I agree with the quailty control Vapor Eyes. I bought 4 replacement heads for my Pro tank and when I had to switch because a juice I was using destroyed the wicks, it was supposed to be 2.2 but was 2.3. I have an iClear like that as well. Its not a huge difference but it is there.
