Battery Scrape

I know you guys aren't going to like this but...



I wrapped 2 layers of scotch tape around the spot. I wrapped it relatively tight so the spot doesn't get scraped more than it already is and so the insulator ring doesn't come loose.

I just got my Tsunami 24 so I really want to try it out, at least for today.

Do you guys think this is okay for a few days?

As long as you are extremely careful, but ANY chance of more damage, you need to rewrap as soon as possible.

Just remember, if it does short, you will fry the battery and very possibly your mod too, and chance of injury. So if you want to take the chance, go ahead, but once you see how fast and easy these battery can short, you'll understand why everyone is telling you to rewrap and not use.

If you have "Gorilla tape" (very thick and much stronger adhesive) at hand I'd recommend that over regular tape.

The glue on the tape is likely to come unstuck as the battery warms both from internal cell temprature and hand temprature whilst your holding the mod.

Just realised I have some electrical tape hopefully that does the better job for the temp fix.

The glue on electrical tape does not fair-well to heat, any *good* electrician will tell you this.

It hasn't caused me any problems so far. But I'm not saying I won't get some new wraps. Do you guys have any recommendations for a good site for new wraps/insulators?

P.S. Can you use a hair dryer to shrink your wraps?

Scotch tape bad. It will make a mess as the adhesive stops adhering from repeated temperature fluctuations.

I'm assuming that's your only battery. Any way you can run out and get another asap? It's not worth the risk.

Would my mod just turn off if there was a short circuit? I guess I have to order some wraps.

Regulated mods offer protections as far as how the mod itself will deal with the battery (you might say they offer protections after the battery, if you look at the battery as the first part in the power chain). In other words, if the mod tries to draw more than the maximum amps it's designed to draw, like with a short in the atomizer, it will shut off, but the battery itself is not directly protected. So if you have a torn wrapper that allows the + and - parts of the battery to touch a non insulated metal part of the inside of the mod and thus become physically bridged, the battery can go into thermal runaway.

Yep... There are Lots of places to pick up Battery Wraps. Heck, some B&M's I have been in sell them for like 25 Cents a piece. Some will give you a couple for Free if you buy a Bottle of e-Liquid.

I've always thought it'd be good if places gave a free battery wrap with every battery (like those plastic battery cases they give away).

Thanks for all the replies guys. I believe the inside of my mod is insulated it may be hard to see but it looks and feels like black plastic on the inside of the battery chambers. Is this even a feasible feature on mods? I have a Joyetech Cuboid btw.

It is possible if they're plastic inside but dont take it for granted if your unsure.

Look inside the tubes and see what was catching your battery wraps if you can.

I just checked and there doesnt appear to be anything. I believe the cause of the tear was me taking the batteries out or putting them in too fast.

Even with their branding on, like you say, still usefull to have around.

Two things I've never had to buy for vaping:

1-battery cases
2-little blue screwdrivers,lol

It'd been nice if I'd had a couple of wraps around when I first needed them.
