It's taking time to get their attention and gain credibility (remember that CASAA is less than 5 years old, compared to the "trusted" sources that the media has been using for decades), but our efforts are starting to produce results with some reporters:

E-Cigarette Advocates Relieved but Cautious After FDA Pitches Rules - US News

Blumenthal Wants More E-Cigarette Rules in 6 Months, Says Adults Prefer Tobacco Flavor - US News

E-Cigarettes Face Dizzying Number of State, Local Fights - US News

Democratic Senators Pounce on E-Cigarettes After CDC Study Shows Teen Use Spike - US News

We get more and more media contacting us nearly every day now.

I think it would be Nice if Individual Vaper's started Sending some of these Positive e-Cigarettes Papers & Studies to the Local and Regional News Outlets.

Every News Group has a Contact Page where you can Contact them. And Most have a Submission Area where you can Submit Stories or Something you would like them to Report on.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., wants to wave goodbye to online e-cigarette sales and candy flavor options.

If you Liked the BBC's Article, and that that it was Fair and Balanced, wouldn't it be a Good Call to Contact the BBC and let them Know?

BBC News - Contacting BBC News programmes

If for Nothing Else, to Counter Balance the Negative e-Mails from People who are Sure to Contact them saying How Evil e-Cigarettes actually are?

Done! :) Sent a positive comment, adding one more to the number of people who have quit.

I long for the day when there is a story about the 80% success rate for people who get good equipment, advice, and support.
When that story hits the papers, we will have won.

Until that Day Comes, Why don't we Take Our Success Stories and Publish Studies and send them to Media NOW.

e-Cigarette use Success Rates May Not be 80%. But Don't they Rival Anything Currently Out There?

They certainly do!

I even contacted Professor Robert West at UCL yesterday evening and explained that although I've not taken part in any official survey, he can add one more to the numbers that have quit smoking by using e-cigs.
His research is on-going.

I absolutely agree! Plus, I'm pretty sure there are far more people that have quit than current statistics are showing.

It was quite by chance that I found out how easy it was to just cut down, and just over a month later I'd stopped. That was almost 4 months ago :)

If they aren't careful with legislation and restrictions, they'll throw the baby out with the bathwater! They nag at us to stop, and when we find a way to do just that, they find something about that to nag at and interfere with.

I'm all for being kept safe, but government has a nasty habit of taking things way too far.

Very Well Put Pictor.

And what Makes it Meaningful, is you just Didn't Say it here. But used some Motivation to Tell Someone Outside the ECF.

Where people Don't Know what We Know.

Gave the BBC a

I've commented on any pro or anti story that had a site that would allow it. Always assumed everyone did the same, if you don't speak up to anyone and everyone that will listen, your views are ignored.
You wouldn't always know it from my posts (although there have been some exceptions) but I am a pretty high-strung person.
I stopped reading articles well over a year ago because I simply reached my fill of reading all the crap.

When I get angry my hands shake so much I can hardly type.
And if I start yelling about what I'm reading it scares my poor dog, and probably anyone walking by outside the house.

I'm glad for all the people who can still tolerate that garbage enough to comment.
:)

done and thanks for the link :)

Well, it depends on the article. And even on the worst piece of fearmongering junk imaginable, the comments are often interesting - especially those from the UK. I have picked up a lot of knowledge and links - and some good belly laughs - from the comments to some of the worst anti-e-cig junk blathering articles :)

And then, of course, those ARE a nice place to post really snarky comments :sneaky:
Pity the Huff Post did not post my comment asking the obese woman who claimed that "adults do not like flavors" how on earth she got that body then? :D

But yes, it is definitely more pleasant to read good articles - like the one mentioned here.

I can speak from experience (snip)
CASAA has proven itself ineffective at building this kind of relationship and will not be considered a resource for the media.

Great!

So do you volunteer to help? We would love to use your experience! Do you have a plan? An organization that can handle that? Please let us know! I'll be happy to contribute financially.

Just let us know!

I can speak from experience—they write about what's handed to them from credible sources or sources who have developed a relationship with the reporter. Health news in particular is just a vehicle for various industry groups and non-profits to get their message out.

Is coffee good for heart health? The coffee industry group prewrote the story and put it in the reporters email.

Will food coloring give your child ADHD? Frequent contributor Center for Science in the Public Interest handed the news outlet a mostly completed story.

All the reporter needs to do is call a second source and boom. Done. A big reason you'll see the same names over and over again (e.g. Stan Glantz) is because they've proven themselves reliable and timely with their responses.

CASAA has proven itself ineffective at building this kind of relationship and will not be considered a resource for the media.

So what's your Suggestion? That we Lay Down and wait for them to Walk Over Us.

I think it is Great that you Took the Time to write what you Did. But I Don't see where it Benefits Anything?

If you have a Way to Promote Better Articles, or to Minimize the Publication of Skewed Articles, I would Love to Hear it.
