Hundred Acre Wood
5. Building a coil. I went to eBay and bought this spool of wire. It was a lot (spool around 3 / 4 inches tall and a couple inches wide). Hey I got it at a great price! So I put everything that I needed to do the job on hubby’s work table. My first step was to cut a piece of wire which I did. My next step (of course) was to let go of the end connected to the spool. Let me tell you that that wire started coming off the spool faster than a jackrabbit can run.
Not as bad as this but close enough.

My final act was to toss it the mangled mess in the garbage. There is a happy ending to this though. DH retrieved it and succeeded where I failed.

whewwwwww finally got time to read through this thread. Now to comment on just a few :)

medium sized, plastic VV Gripper,

i KNEW I couldn't be the only person on ECF that has one of these and likes em!! But you are the 1st one I've heard mention it. I really love that lil guy, just wish it were made better. (I'm on my 2nd one, and it's taped together). lol

I've always felt that if a huge wattage is necessary for a setup to work, it can't be very efficient, shouldn't take that much to vaporize a tiny amount of PG/VG....:2cool:.

Preach it brother!

since I vape up to 30ml a day

Holy vape juice batman!!! you runnin octo coils??? hehehe (just messin wiff ya)

Ok, after doing this for 2 days, just realized this said device and.....

well since I've said I don't really have a fav tank/atty as of now, I will go with device.

I do love my plastic vv gripper. It's made really crappy, but that thing is just a lil powerhouse. Broke my first one.....so got a second one. It's been in ICU a couple times, but we pulled it through.

What is your funniest or most interesting vape related story

My son was one of the managers of a local restaurant. My SIL and I went there to eat one (son wasn't working that day) asked the server if we could vape. she said she was pretty sure it was ok, then asked me to help her play a trick on the mgr. She said she was going to tell him someone was smoking at our table, and when he came out for me to take a vape. Ok!! I'm in!! lol he came out, and I got so interested in him watching us while pretending not to watch us........I totally forgot to vape.

Guy at work told me about the royal wire. Don't have to torch it, just wrap and install. It is a bit pricey though.

I've never heard of it, but you really don't have to torch kanthal either if you're wicking after coiling. Unless you need to torch it to get the springiness out. Just pulse a few times, and that "torches" it. Which is something you do anyhow to make sure the coil is glowing well, no hot legs.

Getting rid of the springy is the reason. Tried a couple times without doing it to see what would happen. Took wire from the spool, wrapped and the coil opened up a bit. If I torch the wire before wrapping it stays a lot better. I don't worry about torching after it's wrapped (unless I didn't get it tight).
