That sounds like a good analysis between the two as I was wondering the same thing. My question is with something like the sigelei 30w mini. Box mod that has a removable battery and also a USB port....how do you charge the battery? Must you take it out to charge it or can you use the USB? Or can you do it either way? Also with a closed battery....what is the normal length of time of use? Did anyone ever have to throw the mod out because of a dead battery? I really don't think I've heard anyone complaining about having to throw it out but I might not be looking in the right places?
Many of the newer boxes allow on-board charging, but it is a more recent feature and some people have concerns with the safety of such a practice. I'd love for you to carry just a few bottles of Peppermint to throw into my order when I finally get an eLeaf iStick! (Just kidding, well, sort of....I really love Peppermint.)

With regard to longevity of a closed device, much of it depends on the quality of the battery/device, charging habits, and use. In many cases, it appears that other components will often fail before a battery gives out, but that is not always the case. Older battery technologies had a "memory" which was greatly impacted by whether one ran the battery all the way to empty prior to charging, charged all the way to full capacity, or just applied a boost here and there. Also, higher rates of discharge can have an impact on battery life: someone vaping at, say, 7 watts will not be stressing the battery as much as someone who runs 14 watts.
I've read some threads where people have posted a built-in battery dying on them. Usually, the battery goes into a slow decline and requires recharging more frequently. For myself, I have an MVP2 that I have used almost daily for nearly a year. It will not hold a charge as long as it used to--but I can still sometimes get a day out of it. But the MVP is well built: I suspect that my iStick 20w would not have fared nearly as well (although, one never knows!).
They should say in the marketing and labeling if pass-through is advisable.2/25

thanks for all that information. I haven't had a device with a removable battery yet so that's good to know. So.....if you can charge it through the USB can you vape while it is charging or is that too dangerous with the stronger batteries?

"Do as I say, not as I do" right?! I really am at a loss for giving advice to new vapers at this point because they might as well just get the good stuff right off the bat. They have it so so much easier than just a year or two ago. It is such a layup to get started with inexpensive, wonderful equipment that the only real worry is that they get a greedy retail sales person that tries to sell them on an overprices ego-ce4 starter kit.
I was in the vape store near me talking to the owners and a young guy walked in. He had started vaping recently and was there to browse, when one of the owners asked what he was using, he pulled out of his pocket an istick30 with a Subtank. I was kind of taken aback!! But that is the way it should be now, in my opinion.

I give up. What is the significance of 9 and 2?
cuz ya add em together and the winning number of 11 gets an extra prize???? lol

I am also very appreciative for all that has been offered this week...I must say that this week has flown by with all the information that was posted here....I spent so much time reading..and I still have some pages to go back to...
Thank you Bruce...
I agree. It's difficult to know what to recommend to new vapers. I used to recommend a spinner or twist and a Protank mini, but now I think I'd recommend an iStick 30 watt and a Subtank mini. The iStick and Subtank mini would be small and simple enough so it wouldn't intimidate them, and both the device and the Subtank would grow with them.

When I type that, I'm reminded of Posto Nove. I used to live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana have zones named after the lifeguard posts. Posto 9 is in Ipanema, close to the bar where "The Girl from Ipanema was written by Jobim and de Moraes.
Yes, I had a beer in that bar. Yes, I was 16, and waiters didn't check the IDs of americans who tipped.
