It's weird - I have a strong WANT for a cigarette in the morning too, but I wouldn't call it a NEED. I can truly say that I prefer vaping, but that being said I recently got a sample pack of some 24mg cartos and man does that make a difference. I'm kind of "nic loading" with the 24s then switching to 12 or 18 for the rest of the day. Mind you I've only done this for 3 days now but I think it's going to work out for me just fine. Except for the wanting part - I still wake up and think COFFEE and CIGARETTE and not necessarily in that order. Of course it's bound to take a while to change a nearly THIRTY YEAR (omg I'm so OLD) habit - Rome wasn't built in 5 weeks either I guess :)

FWIW I agree with the others that said if you feel like you need one, smoke one. There really isn't a prize for fortitude.

this for sure

I use higher mg and hotter vape in the morning, even to the point of "oh man I've had too much" quite deliberately

Then I take it down a few notches and cruise

I had a hard time in the mornings too. I got some caramel cappuccino from Kick Bass Vapor in 18mg (I was on 12mg for the day) and would wake up and vape that for 10-15 minutes. (Absorption rates are less with vapor than smoke, so increase your vape time... a 5-6 minute smoke may equate to a 10-15 minute vape). Then I'd smoke if I still had to. After a few days... I didn't want the smoke anymore. Concentrate on finding something that satisfies you in the morning, and don't beat yourself up about the smoke.. when you find it, it'll work.

60 or so days into vaping now and, analogues seem like a distant memory I am grateful to be able to say. At first though, I would get the morning cig cravings & would catch myself (throughout the day) thinking "I need a cigarette". But, I just started making myself mentally say "No, I need to vape". It worked! Everyone is different, I am NOT saying you shouldn't smoke. I do think it is more the act of smoking you are missing and not the need to smoke. The need is/can be fulfilled by vaping now.

Also, I actually made it a point not to go out on the porch for my morning coffee (where I used to have my morning cigs). I told myself "Oh cool! I can stay in the a/c and vape & drink coffee and not sweat my balls off in the hot Florida humidity!" Or, "Hey! I don't have to roll the window down in the car to vape like I did smoking!" Little Jedi mind tricks like that really seemed to help - looking at the plus's of vaping versus smoking etc.

I didn't break down and have a cigarette until about the fourth day into vaping which, I think really helped because by then; I was really into vaping and had gone long enough w/out an analogue that my pallet had cleared just enough for my taste buds to taste how utterly FOUL smoking tasted and then it became really easy to reject the "urge" to have a cig instead of a vape.

Like I said, I know everyone deals w/ analogues differently but these "mind tricks" helped me so I thought I would pass 'em along...

To me, vaping is like "Having your cake & eating it too". I get to have my nicotine but, w/out it being wrapped in certain death(carcinogens from cigs)!

Anyways, good luck in the endeavor to quit cigs all together, no matter how you go about it!

I would not always be able to smoke in the morning especially before retirement. I was not a big coffee drinker as I'm nervous enough without it. Today I took a hit right after waking because I'm not rushed for time and I can vape inside. Mornings are not quite as bad for me as evenings. I am a nigh owl. At night I would smoke the most. My big times were Lunch, Dinner and right before bed. But now I can vape less at those times but vape spread out more. I still vape more at night but now it get an easier start by vaping in the morning.

Some good advice here. First thing in the morning was the hardest part for me also. What worked for me has been mentioned several times. I used a slightly higher nicotine level in the morning, and took my coffee and my e-cig outside on the porch. I did this every morning for about a week, and then the mornings were fine.

This is what I did as well. I still go out on the porch with my PV to talk on the phone. Force of habit:)

I vape a higher nicotine level an hour before going to bed and for an hour in the morning. My theory is that the higher nicotine before going to bed may help prevent nicotine levels from falling so badly that one craves the fast hit that a cigarette can deliver first thing in the morning. As a 2+ PAD smoker this strategy worked great for me from day one but I preferred vaping to smoking after the first cartridge.

Also, everyone seems to find their own path for what works for them so don't feel badly if you still you need your morning cigarette fix. You are miles ahead of the game if you significantly reduce your use of cigarettes.

Just gotten to some 2 weeks vaping now. Morning crave, huh? For the first few days (routine continous) vaping I just grabbed both, PV and analog (since I still got few packs analog around), took a few hard-hitting HV puff with 24/36mg nic tobac flavor, and then lit up the analog. Taste like s**t and can only stand max of 3 puffs out of analog! That lasts about 2-3 days. morning crave still there, but never touch the analog again. Bad taste of analog really put me off. For me it's the juice (flavor and nic level) and the high voltage. Btw, anyone got sweeth tooth withdrawal? After couple more days of vaping, somehow I caught a sweet tooth and my tobac flavor taste muted, and I suddenly have more enjoyment over a creamy sweet flavor. Which is a bum, since my initial stock was tobac flavor and clove essence (never thought of getting a sudden crave for sweet)!

When you wake up, don't even bother getting out of bed, grab that vaporizer and vape and vape and vape until you can't vape anymore or until you don't crave that analog anymore...(just don't OD)...

Exactly what I was going to suggest. It makes sense that you are short of nicotine when you wake up, so keep your PV by the bed and vape before you even think of getting up for your morning coffee. Get that nicotine into your system and see if it helps and if you still want an analogue then go ahead and have one. Remember all the ones you are not smoking not the ones you do smoke :)
