The two things that helped me:

PV bed side. Have it right there so it's the first thing you grab (...?) when you get up. Don't give yourself a reason to get a cigarette by having the PV right there for you.

For the first four months I needed to use a higher nic level for any bad craving fits - be it first thing in the morning or otherwise. For me, after four months I still had cravings here and there but the higher nic liquid was no longer necessary. At one year+ cravings barely register any more.

I take my PV outside in the morning, as I used to with cigs. It's still pretty mornings, this time of year. But soon will be pissing rain, and then I'll just stand at a window, looking out with mild interest, vaping warm and dry, pitying the dog as he's sent out alone...

Had a cig yesterday but none today. No idea if I'll have one tomorrow, but not really worried about it. I am for sure no longer so hard up I'll shiver on a wet porch of a dark morning any more, so that's progress enough for the now.

Today is day 7 of hardcore vaping for me..but it's day #2 without a Smoke! Woo-Hoo! The first few days I was using a Blu with their 16mg juice..so I was chain vaping..and mornings were definately tough..I decided to try increasing the mg, so I got a new setup by Bloog and some 24mg juice...What a difference! Still need my "Binky" but I'm not chain vaping like I was..and I'm not feining like before..and I'm not missing real Cigs AT ALL..Vaping has really saved me. I was a hardcore 1pack a day smoker for 27 years! Now I'm freeeee! :toast:

I am so glad this question was asked and so thankful for all the responses to it. I'm only 7 days into vaping. I go to bed with a pack of regular analongs, a pack of menthols, and my pv all sitting next to each other. Lately when I wake up during the night I'll grab my pv and vape for a few minutes, go back to sleep. But when the alarm goes off I reach straight for the analongs swapping back and forth between regular and menthol. At least now I know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

It is definately a habit which can be replaced. I do not miss the morning cig at all anymore. I say get rid of all smoking supplies completely, lighters, smokes, ashtray. If you want it eliminated, eliminate it to the point that you would have to drive to get more, that way you have time to think about your decision while vaping, and you will probably decide against it. Some say it is o.k. for them to smoke occasionally, I am not one of them, I believe vaping to be a superior form of nicotine delivery, and smoking is definately a step towards my death. I no longer want or desire smoking at all, I want and desire my favorite juices, and I have several that hit me just right at certain times of the day. I too had the mornin crave when I first started, but it easy to get by when you can sit down with some coffee and a bottle of bounty hunter, good luck.

My last pack of cigs lasted a week+. I left it in the car so i had to go out to get one.

Cravings first thing in the morning, first time in a car, and immediately after a meal I handled with higher nic, as others have mentioned. I vaped 24 mg for my first 8 months, for the first two of those months I had some 30 & 36 mg just to handle craving points.

Hi. It will get even more weird, but in good ways.

During those first few weeks I often found myself with my PV in one hand, a cigarette in the other, and my brain going though a mini melt down making a decision regarding which one was about to go into my mouth. Noodles to say most of the time the PV won out. It felt so weird to actually have a choice. But you really do have a choice. And that's a wonderful thing.

Many, many of us go through this fascinating transition: You start vaping "Hey! This actually tastes pretty good!" and as you go along the cigarettes become less and less satisfying. "Why on earth did I ever start smoking to begin with???" You reach a point where you still smoke a cigarette, and question why you just did that with every one.

I was a 30 year 1.5 PAD smoker. I gave myself 90 days to "play" with quitting altogether. I figured: 30 year habit, 3 months to completely quit. I didn't see a problem with that. But as I went along vaping, any cigarette I smoked just became more and more disgusting. Every time you try to quit with "conventional" methods - you know... You are just DYING for a cigarette. Within the first two weeks of vaping, smoking a .... was like my very first cigarette all over again: They made me dizzy, I couldn't stand the taste, and the smell of cigarette smoke was disgusting. Just like that very first time I smoked. I sure as hell never saw that one coming. In effect, smoking a cigarette turned into it's own worst negative reinforcement.

Toward the end of 90 days I was down to my last cigarette in my last pack. I smoked it, didn't enjoy it at all, and it was over.

Hey guys thought I would update this, I got some 24mg juice and it has done the trick, been of analogs 5 days now, I vape before I get outta bed and it sort of sickens me to be honest, puts me right of wanting an analog, I get up have a coffee then go outside and vape again, I vape 24mg all day but in the evenings go down to 12 and this seems to work for me.
