Hello everyone. Im new and would like some guidance like most members do. It is alot easier for me to just post and go from there. I had bought my first e cig mistic at Walmart and since than I've been anticipating getting off cigarettes. I just don't know where to start. There is so much out there and alot of places don't talk about there safety features which is the most important to me due to what I have heard about them. I am looking at vapor girls because they are really cute lol. I just don't understand the difference between e cig starter kit mod starter kit ego echo 510 808 threading and what the point is of knowing what threading. It shouldn't be this complicated lol. I.wish they had a e cig guide for dummies... Until than pretty please help me yall any and all comments long or short. Bless your hearts.

Im sure lots of people will chime in and help out. All I wanted to say is that like you...I bought one of those Mystik ecigs at Walmart just like you did and was really unimpressed with it and I waited a few months before starting because to me it tasted terrible and burned out quick. Not until I went to work and saw a few guys vaping and got to talking to them did I realize that its not just about throw aways. Congratulations on reaching out to start right!

Bri,

Sorry to hear about your confusion. Many manufacturers these days have safety protection circuits built into their introductory mods. Seeing as safety is one of your primary concerns, I would suggest an ego type battery. The ego has the standard 510 threading. Another thing to note, is that the guy who had an exploding e-cig was improperly using it. Knowledge changes everything :)

Why do you need to know what threading your kit has (Rhetorical Question)? It basically limits what types of atomizers or cartomizers you can put on the device (unless you get threading adapters, but if you stick with 510, you should be good).

Any ecig (or most basic ones, I should say), has a battery portion, and an atomizer/cartomizer portion. You screw the atomizer and cartomizer into the battery and fill the atomizer or cartomizer with your eliquid.

To start off, how many cigarettes (and what kind) do you smoke in a day?

Next, will you have access to a charger most days, or do you need something that gets you through a whole day without needing a charge?

Hopefully this will help to start narrowing down the process. The vapor girls EgoTB looks cool, but let's not decide quite yet. Hope this helps!

Sigmatica has hit it right on. The type of kit should be determined by what you want out of an electronic cigarette kit. For example I personally don't want something that I need to refill every 20 minutes so I went with a system that holds 2mL of juice or more thus limitting my refills to once or twice a day depending on how much I vaped through the day. If you plan on running the e-cig off of the battery for an entire day and just throwing it on the charger at night before bed you will want to ensure you get a battery that has a large enough mAH rating to last the whole day. These kinds of questions should be considered before making your purchase in order to avoid getting something that you end up replacing a week or two later because it's not quite what you were hoping for in terms of performance, battery life, easy of use, etc. Spend the money to get what is going to suit your needs, this doesn't mean you need the most expensive equipment it just means get the equipment that fulfils your expectations for the device.

Welcome to ECF and wahoooooo on wanting to get off cigs!! You'll get a million different answers as to what is the best thing.

If you want something that looks like a cig, most folks recommend the volt.

If you want a battery that will last all day and then some on one charge, there are two basic types. (Many more, but I definitely recommend a 510 connection). Something like a kgo, a kit with 2 batts, charger, atomizer etc, will run about $40-50 This is where the battery is contained in the unit. If you want something where you simply replace rechargeable batteries inside a shell, something like the Epower or an Ego T would be good.

The threading means what type of connection it is where you screw on the juice holder. 510 is probably most common. You do need to know which threading you have and the thread on whatever juice holders you're buying. If you get the wrong one, it won't screw on without an adapter.

It can be very complicated starting out and very confusing, but here are my main things I learned from being a recent newbie myself.

Watch videos of different products! Just type in (name of product) review into your browser or into you tube. You'll get to actually see products being used and find out what people like and don't like about them.

When starting to buy juice, get a variety of nic strengths. Folks told me if I was having cravings, up the nic strength, so I placed a large order for 24mg nic juice and then found out that higher nic can give juice a peppery flavor. Now I have a lot of juice that I have a hard time vaping. Also try some various pg/vg combos to see what you like best. Pg can be harsher but gives more flavor and throat hit, vg gives more vapor. EC blends is a good place to try 3 ml bottles to try various flavors, pg/vg and nic strengths. It'll cost more per ml, but overall could save you money by finding out what you like.

Plan to spend some money on this til you find out what you like. I'd also recommend getting a dripping atomizer. I didn't do this with my kit and really regretted it. Many kits come with one. This allows you to drip a few drops of juice directly onto a coil (sort of) and that way you can taste juice flavors. I got the drippers dream atty from gotvapes.com and really like it. Many people just stick with dripping and don't want anything else. But you can only drip about 3 drops, and vape that maybe 5-6 draws (sometimes more). Understand that you will likely end up buying things you don't like, it's a learning process, but so much better than cigs.

Have backups for everything as you can get them. Batts fail, attys burn up, nothing lasts forever. But just remember that with cigs you were literally setting $50.00 bills on fire each time you bought a carton probably. And you've come to a great place! Plenty of support and help here. Good luck!!

Thanks yiddle. Bri.la follow yiddle around, she's a real sweetheart!!

Glad my huge long post helped some. Bottom line is, no one will be able to tell you what you'll end up liking. I bought a riva battery kit, and now wish I'd gotten something like an e power or a ego T just because you can replace a switch if a switch goes out, or replace batteries rather than replacing the entire thing like a ego/kgo/riva Check out the bottom of this link for a video that shows several things then he'll focus on the ego t The epower is smaller if this is too big. I hated menthol cigarettes, yet my favorite nicotine liquids have all been mentol flavors. Dont limit yourself by what you currently smoke. Your starter kit is important but so is the flavor of liquid, if you get one you dont like set it aside a few weeks and try it again, your tastes will change as you quit smoking the regular cigarettes.
