I’m craving a cigarette pretty bad tonight so I thought it would help to line out all the pros of vaping so far, and read anyone’s input as well.

Best things about vaping (newbie perspective)...
vaping in the house.
Vaping in the car.
Not smelling like cigarettes.
Not having to awkwardly have non smoking husband and family wait on me to finish smoking before we can leave/enter a place.
Not having to go to the gas station every day.
Not spending money every day. (Not only cigs but a drink, snack, etc while in the store)
Not having a panic attack because I’m down to my last cigarette and I have to load 3 kids in the car to go get more.
Not having to feel guilty being around my mom who is dying of lung cancer because I’m still smoking.
Not having my kids watch me smoke as their grandma dies of smoking related cancer.
No ashtrays! No butts! No lost lighters!!
Mouth is fresh and clean. I work in dentistry so I was always deeply ashamed of my smoking habit.
Hands smell clean! I can smell my perfume again!!
No hiding cigarette packs in the car/my purse when out with people who don’t know I smoke.
Not having to fool myself into thinking that people can’t tell I smoke. Of course they can tell.
Not standing out in the freezing cold around the ashtray this weekend while at a hotel.
Not wasting cigarettes due to not having time to smoke the whole thing.

Guys!!! This is after what, two weeks!!
What an amazing change. Deeply thankful.

The picture is my mom and my youngest son. My mom is 56. I wish this would have reached her in time.

Hang in there. If you screw up and smoke a cig every once in a while don't beat yourself up over it. Be thankful for the ones that you don't smoke instead. As for the cravings, it gets better.
Thank you. I’ve tried to go easy on myself, and haven’t had an analog in a few days so my mind is playing tricks on me tonight. I’m gonna make it!!

Gotta get a 'tude, an attitude. You have many good reasons. I would also raise your Nic content to get confidence in it. Also, get back-ups!...for everything!

I kept back-ups in my car because the car was always near me. I had no excuses.

If you are not getting your Nic fix, raise your Nic content.

P.s. I started at 36mg.

if you vape in bed you won’t set your house on fire.

the whole film of tar over everything if you smoke inside. Had a friend who cleared out his mom’s house who smoked indoors and discovered that a chandelier he had always thought was black was actually silver.

If you ever have to run somewhere you’ll discover you breathe a lot better as well.

Backups in the car...great idea! Then your choice is kind of staring you in the face when you get in to go buy cigarettes. Excellent. Thank you!

I’m at 35mg nic salts and not chain vaping but keeping them with me. It’s been working! I’m legitimately surprised. I left without cigarettes this weekend and didn’t feel an ounce of panic. Tonight however I could smoke a whole pack so I’m focusing on the positive! Thank you for the car idea, I hadn’t thought of that...

Yes! I stopped smoking indoors a while ago but I have a sunporch that is smelling better and better every day. I can’t wait to bleach it down once and for all.
Also, if I’m running somewhere it’s probably because something is chasing me lol and I haven’t quite noticed extra lung function yet but it’s only been a few days. Looking forward to that part!

A few days? Oh, it will get better! A lot of the really good stuff takes several months. The first month or so can be kind of weird medically. Your body starts to finally believe you’re not going to poison it anymore and starts getting rid of built up gunk. You may cough up some amazing things. There are a lot of quite variable side effects from the detoxification. There are whole threads on it around here. GL on your journey :)

Wow do I remember that. LOL What I did when it kept coming up was to tell myself, mmmm, maybe in a couple minutes, I wanna finish (whatever I am doing now) first. Comes up again, tell yourself, vaping tastes sooo much better, plus smoking stinks. Or simply just say no. That no will get stronger as you build confidence in yourself. For the first year I kept an unopened pack in my kitchen drawer. Never did open them. Everytime I saw it or was tempted I just said, naw, don't need ya. I had originally had them to help with the panic I felt at first. When I smoked and got down to my last pack I would have to go for more or I would start to panic(sounds really dumb now), so to get rid of that feeling my solution was to have that unopened pack that was tucked away (so I did not see it all the time) but knew it was there. Behavior is the toughest thing to change but it can be done and just like smoking it has to be done repetitively. You will find that those thoughts and cravings will get less and less over time.
Good luck.

:)

When you find a new flavor that is soooooo good, and you can have all you want !

NEVER did that with cigarettes.
Plus you couldn't really taste them anyway since smoking deadened our taste buds. I have always said smoking was never this much fun.

lol

I think I’m stuck in a transition phase. If I have them, I smoke them. If I don’t have them, I’m panicking about not having them. And round and round I go.

I don’t have any now, and haven’t had any since Thursday, and I’m panicking. It’s a really messed up thing that your brain goes through. I have much respect for anyone who has been through this or drug/alcohol addiction. I’m a well educated, accomplished, productive member of society. And yet it’s HARD for me to get a grip on myself. It sounds ridiculous, which is why I think this forum is so helpful. You guys get it. Thank you for sharing your experience with me!

I’m being really picky about flavors at this point because I don’t know how to make my own and some of them SOUND good, in theory, but practical application says otherwise. (I’m looking at you Orange Crush that tastes like a car air freshener) however, you are 100% right that the worst air freshener tastes better than the best cigarette. Even as a smoker I hated the taste and the aftertaste.

WE have all been where you are and are here to tell you --not only is this doable but you can end up having a lot of fun exploring the different juices, gear, etc. Just slow down and take a couple of breaths. Drink more water or fav beverage to help get those toxins out faster also. And hit the higher nic strength for a couple of hits or until you begin to feel it. Nic does take a little longer to get into your system than smoking does so tell yourself your nic fix is on the way and give it a few mins at a time. Heck, however often the cravings or thoughts come up just say no and vape. Then distract yourself. Watch tv, play a game, go for a walk......god forbid do the dishes.lol(j/k)

Ugh not the dishes!!! 5 member household and no dishwasher means lots of time doing dishes...I think the only thing that’s worse is laundry! The dreaded laundry LOL
