This may be a stupid question, but why should the resistance numbers jump around? Is that an indication of poorly built coils or is variation normal for prebuilt coils and the resistance jumping around is an indication of a good sensor/chip?

I can get a d2 for $10 less than a d3 but it's only like 40 minutes of my time at work to earn that much so why not get the newer one?
A temperature control build will increase in resistance as the temperature increases. That's how the mods calculate the increase in temperature. Some mods, like the D2, shows live resistance reading.

I would say anything larger than 22mm will most likely have issues with this mod. Here's the mod with the goblin mini v2 (22mm) you can see theres about 1-1.5mm left between the tank and the battery cap. Also in case you're still on the fence for a single battery mod. Here's a size comparison with the snow wolf mini 75W. It is tiny.

The Pico is great but like said restrictive on atty size. That Melo tank is decent with the .3 ohm coil just not big enough for all day. I question why the OP is only looking at single battery mods when there are pocket sized dual batteries now. I have a Cuboid for out and about as does my brother and they have been flawless. I also have the Smok R200. Both are roughly the same size as the Sigelei 75, but dual batteries. I have the Sigelei 75 and the battery life is horrible. Just my opinion, but you can't go wrong with the Cuboid and the Cubis tank for an all day vape. The Cubis does not leak and has decent coils as well as the new Notch Coil. It is a fog machine too.

Is getting a dual 18650 mod worth the additional investment in batteries? I feel like I'd need at least two more and a charger that charges more than one battery at a time. I'm trying to keep my investment under $75USD but if I could get a Cuboid kit that would be great, I was also looking at the Smok Xcube 160w, with the TFV4 for a dual 18650 mod.

I just impulse bought a Joyetech Ego AIO kit for $17 shipped from 101vape tonight. I'm a landscaper so it will be a good work vape that shouldn't get too clogged by the soil in my pockets. I'm going to try out the Cubis tank design this way and see if I want a real Cubis or if maybe I should try out the Cleito. I know the lack of variable voltage is going to piss me off but my GF has been looking for a vape kit too... It seemed like a good way to see what the tank design could do while I save up for a good dual 18650 mod and a full size Smok TFV4.

I like to know that my out and about mod is going to last me all day so yes I love 2 battery devices. You may want to add a couple of spare batteries and a 4 bay charger so you can keep a set charged. The Cuboid can do USB charging according to the manual, but an external charger is better. I got a 4 bay NiteCore off of Amazon for $16, The Cuboid was $39 LGH2 batteries are about $8 each so $32, Cubis Tank $16 TFV4 Mini around $23
These are VapeNW prices

That said if you want a good 2 battery device that can run a TFV4, look at the IPV5, smaller and not as heavy as the XCube 2 and runs the TFV4 just fine though not as pocket friendly as the Cuboid. Also around $40 most places
Smok has a new Device coming out similar to the XCube but I am not sure about the cost. The Xcube is a beast but I don't like the top screen, as if my tank leaked a little it started getting under the screen.

I know that charging via USB is not recommended for any device, especially double or triple battery devices because the charing of the batteries are not equally spread. But what about single battery devices like the evic mini and pico? Would it be okay just to rely on USB charging?

I broke my ego AIO before replacing the first coil which says something about the BF Joyetech coils I guess. The AIO was a terrible investment because the glass in the tank can't be replaced and if it breaks like mine did then juice immediately floods the circuitry inside. What a joke.

I went to some incredibly overpriced b&m vape shops and saw the IPV d3, the Cuboid, the sigelei fuchai, the evic vtc, And the laisimo s3 200w and the Eleaf Pico 75w. I really didn't like how chunky the Cuboid was even though it seemed like a well built mod. It seemed like a deal breaker for me even though I have heard it's a good mod. The pico looked pretty cheapo and maybe a little flimsy. The sigelei fuchai looks great and I like the rubberized exterior but I don't like that it only does Ni and Ti and not stainless steel coils. I think the pico and r steam do all.three as well.as the vtc mini which I liked the look.of and apparently.the r steam.is similar. The IPV D3 was way too small for.me for some.reason even though the pico is smaller the d3 seemed too thin. The laisimo seemed super high quality built and offering ss/Ni/ti tc capability but I really haven't heard much about the brand and it doesn't have pass through charging which I could use because my charger cable is broken and I'm kind of impoverished. I think I should probably get a pico for the value really.

The IPVD3 is a solid device with a YIHI chip and will take any tank or RDA you put on it with no problem, not so with the Cuboid and the Pico. I have not seen any decent reviews for the Lassimo. I do not have the VTC Mini but since it is from same parent company as the Cuboid and Pico I would worry about the 510 connector. Sig Fuchai has had it's own issues. I don't know anything about the R Steam but I have 2 Smok mods that have held up surprisingly well. Check out some reviews here on the forum and see what actual owners think;)

So far I have heard good things about the Sigelei, the Smok, the Snow Wolf, and the IPV d3. I guess the "best" mod depends on personal preference, but which is the best for the price, which provides the most value?

"Best"? Get yourself a YiHi SXminiML. If you really don't want to invest that much cash, the eLeaf Pico and the VTC Mini are both good choices.

That is the most important factor in your decision and reading on, I see you went to a B&M to actual see and hold mods.....great move! I have several mods with varying designs and all are my favorite depending on when I am using it. The only one I have that you mention is the D2 (which I assume is aesthetically the same as the D3). Not my number one, but great when I am out and about short term. Love the small size, yet every tank I have fits nicely on it.

If you are going to run the TFV4 or similar tanks, a dual battery mod is worth it. More up-front cost, but extended battery life is well worth it, especially of going out for the day. Even then, I don't trust my Sigelei 100+ (dual 18650) to last over 6 - 8 hours, but your results may vary. At least a 2 bay charger is a must, as are more batteries since pairs must be married.

Having said all that, I just received my Sigelei 213 a few days ago, and although there are some complaints, it is sure to be my new favorite mod. Looks, size, weight, and battery life are great (some are saying battery life is equal to or greater then their triple 18650 mods, but I can't confirm that). Got mine for $80 and that included 2 batteries. It looks like they are coming out with an identical (although it may be slightly heavier) Fuchai 213 model for almost half the price that comes in more colors and (supposedly) corrections to "problems." Might be worth a look.

There are a plethora of options to pick from depending on your vape style and back-ups are always good! Good luck.

Hows that snow wolf, being eyeing it for a while, but the lack of VT for SS has kept me away so far

It was my first mod. Enjoyed it while it was in rotation. A few cons. Price point was/is still kind of high for what it is. Button rattles. Movement with battery cover.
