Better filler for cartomizers?

Since the main issue with cartomizers seems to be burning and accumulation, I'm wondering if the next phase ought to be finding a better filling that doesn't burn, and is cleanable. I remember a while back people talking about using 'blue foam' for cartridges. While this is probably not the next step, it's a step in the right direction: finding a filler that works better.

The current polyfill, while absorbent, is still subject to burning and accumulation. Is there anything out there that can hold liquid without burning? Ideally we should be able to find some type of material that's moderately absorbent, is somewhat inflammable, and 100% cleanable.

Some of the newer hybrid atomizers are getting closer to this idea by using more mesh that can hold some liquid, but it's still facing some cleaning problems (draw gets stiff).

Thoughts?

Dual coils don't burn or at least I haven't experienced it yet and I've been using them since they hit the market.

Echo-E cartomizers are cleanable. Hold a good amount of juice and it takes quite a bit of juice before it gets a stiff draw. They can even be dry burned.

But I agree with you, I would love to see a cartomizer that is 100% user cleanable and fixable. Only problem I see is that the vendors and manufacturers would go out of business rather quickly.

Stairstep it in price - I'd gladly pay more for a carto that's designed to last 6 months. As with all things, it'd be slightly different and many people might prefer disposables. Personally, I try to live as sustainably as possible and I wince every time I throw a cartomizer in the trash.

The e-cig industry is pretty volatile anyway - I'm sure distributors are constantly on alert, but we have a few (at least) that are committed to quality, so I think it would work.

The Apex Alpha uses a unique, porous ceramic to suspend up to 2ml of liquid using surface tension (which is then drawn out through tiny vents and into your atty as you inhale). Maybe a carto composed of a thin tube of that material encasing the coil might work. From what I understand, the big hurdle is the cost of the material in this case. But it could lead to high capacity cartos, that last an extremely long time.

Here is a wild idea, what if you replaced the filler with an analog filter? I have no idea if it will work or not but it is worth a try. At about $3 for 200 empty analog tubes (with filters) it would seem feasible to just replace the filler when it burns or becomes dirty/gunky. I just so happen to have a bunch laying around since I used to stuff my own analogs...
