He had quit smoking at one point(mentions it in Religulous(sp?). I watch him quite a bit, and he is more than anything logical. I find it VERY VERY hard to believe he would not support the idea. I dont know if he started smoking again, but I think it would be a great thing to be on his show.

Well, from what I understand, he is a more radical acting kind of "in your face" type guy right? I do not know what his political affiliation is and I don't care to know since I am not into politics, but we want someone who isn't going to be a loose cannon, you know?

I mean, if he's for the idea, awesome. But since he is a more radical person, if he's against it, he could be dangerous for us right? I'm pretty sure that I have seen him on tv a few times, anyone please correct me if I have the wrong impression about him.

Goddess, he is in your face, but like I said he uses logic and does think to himself. His political affiliation between dem and republican is clearly more dem, but he is also fair in his criticisms. He will equally say to either side, good idea, bad idea. Just because view of {insert name here} does not mean he will agree or disagree with it. He thinks for himself.

I think it would be great to have it in an open discussion forum like this. It will open peoples eyes who are unfamiliar with PV's and spark more debate. Debate will cause interest, interest will cause more people to research etc, ect..... This is a great causal relationship for the world of PV'ers and analog users as well. Information is power. The more people become aware of something the more knowledge will be gathered. Someone is bound play devil's advocate whether it is Maher or a guest, we just need someone on there who is informed about PV's to have a rebuttal. I think it would be extremely beneficial to have this topic discussed on such a public, nationally televised forum.

Let's put it this way: He thinks that pot should be legal... and if not... at least decriminalized. Whether one likes him or not, he pulls in a very wide-ranged audience of thinkers. This is good.

Brown - Don't worry... I do believe they post the Overtime episode to the website and it isn't actually on HBO, but after the show. No, it isn't direct coverage on his show... BUT... if enough people post a question regarding the ecig, he might just have to take a look and maybe add it as a topic for the aired broadcast... and that would be pretty damn cool.

Even cooler... he gets one, tries it and loves it and then maybe... just maybe... starts talking about it where he can.

Who knows? It's like throwing spaghetti at the wall. Never know what's gonna stick ;)

Maher is an environmentalist. He believes humans are damaging the planet so if one were to make the argument the e-cig was less dangerous for the planet...and leaves less of a carbon footprint. Nah...wouldn't work because of the plastic in carts and eliquid bottles....as well as nicotine being a toxin and a pesticide. Bad idea in my opinion. :)

Ladyraj - It is my understanding that the plastic in the mouthpiece is #2 plastic which means if you remove the cart and the wick, then you can throw the mouthpiece right into the recycling bin. Most recycling programs accept #1 and #2 plastics. I am not sure about the plastic bottles, but anyone with a glass bottle, those are recyclable for sure.

Either way, the average bottle of 15ml liquid equates to an average of 300 cigarette butts (if you use 2-3 drops to yield 7-14 puffs which is standard puffing for a cigarette based on anti-smoking studies). So the lack of 300 cigarette butts is a huge savings in our landfills and on our roadways.

Just a greenies perspective :)

Hey Lacey, thanks for your reply. If you approach the concept of the e-cig from the green perspective you will get Maher's attention. But remember to address the toxin aspect of a pesticide that may be released into ground water via the recycling process. Litter is one thing, toxin is another. The lack of carbon monoxide production is also beneficial. Good luck! I hope to see positive things about the e-cig on TV. :)
